Play episode

Episode summary: Bryan Whittington was always one who loved to learn, but was never a fan of the classroom setting. He became a foreign exchange student in South America not knowing any Spanish or anything of their culture.

Being immersed right into it, he learned that the best way to learn is just by doing it. He took those lessons on throughout the rest of his life. Working in sales, making those cold calls really do scare many people away, but Bryan knows you just have to do it and you’ll get better.

[Nick McGowan]: Hey Bryan, welcome to the show how are you doing man?

[Bryan Whittington]: i’m living in the dream thanks for having me nick i really appreciate it

[Nick McGowan]: yeah an my pleasure i’m glad to have you on so we’ve known each other

[Nick McGowan]: for a couple of months now through sales cast dot co shameless little plug for

[Nick McGowan]: those guys

[Nick McGowan]: and it’s been great it’s been great being part of sales cast but it was

[Nick McGowan]: great being able to connect with you and some other people i’ve had some other

[Nick McGowan]: people from from that group that’s been part of the show as well and i

[Nick McGowan]: was on your show recently we had

great conversation and i’m excited for us to

[Nick McGowan]: get into things here why don’t you

give us a little bit of context tell

[Nick McGowan]: us what you do for a living

and maybe one thing that most people don’t

[Nick McGowan]: know about you that’s kind of odd

or bizarre

[Bryan Whittington]: well so yeah i appreciate your having

me on again nick and a little bit

[Bryan Whittington]: about me so i’m a founder of

a company called b s growth and founded

[Bryan Whittington]: that back in twenty nineteen really got

started perfect year right twenty twenty for the

[Bryan Whittington]: pandemic and all we really do is

focusing on sales effectiveness so that’s that’s my

[Bryan Whittington]: day job insane we have six kids

that i’m i’m trying to provide for so

[Bryan Whittington]: one weird

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: thing about me or maybe

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: that most don’t know is spent a

year down in south america as an exchange

[Bryan Whittington]: student and that was probably one of

them s pivotal pivotal times in my life

[Bryan Whittington]: to really

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: open up my eyes for what was

out there and really set me on a

[Bryan Whittington]: path to where i am today i

believe

[Nick McGowan]: that’s awesome so what was that like

and how did you get to south america

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah so it’s

[Nick McGowan]: a

[Bryan Whittington]: funny story i was never

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: a good student

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: i loved to learn but i was

never a good student that stereo typical academic

[Bryan Whittington]: career path is not me right i

don’t sit down on m d d i

[Bryan Whittington]: have

[Nick McGowan]: uh

[Bryan Whittington]: a standing desk

[Nick McGowan]: uh

[Bryan Whittington]: i don’t remember the last time i

sat down during work hours and that doesn’t

[Bryan Whittington]: really equate and it’s not effective in

school so whenever i went into

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: my spanish class

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: there was a little post card and

it said hey fill it out if you’d

[Bryan Whittington]: like to go and be an exchange

student through rotary club something like that this

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: will never happen so i filled the

darn thing out and lone behold they chose

[Bryan Whittington]: me through a couple of different interviews

they were insane enough to choose me so

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: i went down to south america and

ended up staying with a family that had

[Bryan Whittington]: um you know five or six different

companies that they were running and i

[Nick McGowan]: is

[Bryan Whittington]: never knew that right where i grew

up my dad was a truck driver right

[Bryan Whittington]: i told him i was going to

go to school and he’s like why in

[Bryan Whittington]: the world would you do that just

where we’re

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: living and my mother was in retail

sales all of her life learned a ton

[Bryan Whittington]: of work ethic from them but that

was just i didn’t know what else was

[Bryan Whittington]: out there so that

[Nick McGowan]: sure

[Bryan Whittington]: was probably the biggest eye opener for

me

[Nick McGowan]: and what part of the country you

originally from

[Bryan Whittington]: so i’m from pittsburgh pennsylvania

[Nick McGowan]: yeah now i remember starting off your

podcast episode talking about eagles and stealers and

[Nick McGowan]: throwing colors basically at each other black

and gold and green and all of that

[Nick McGowan]: it’s got to be interesting going from

pittsburgh to south america

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: and having a whole different whole different

vibe down there what was that like when

[Nick McGowan]: you were a kid

[Bryan Whittington]: so i was eighteen i had no

idea

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: what i was doing right and whenever

[Nick McGowan]: most a

[Bryan Whittington]: i

[Nick McGowan]: team

[Bryan Whittington]: went

[Nick McGowan]: year old stout

[Bryan Whittington]: and so whenever i went down there

was kind of funny all of these other

[Bryan Whittington]: students that were going down they had

planned that they you know this was what

[Bryan Whittington]: they really wanted to do it for

me it was a whim

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: i had a for an exchangent student

that lived across the read from me and

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: i thought that would be kind of

cool i realized on the airplane down whenever

[Bryan Whittington]: they were all practicing spanish i didn’t

even know how to ask where the bathroom

[Bryan Whittington]: was so whenever i got down

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: there i to learn how to be

self sufficient very quickly because

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: i couldn’t understand a thing i couldn’t

speak anything but that really allowed me a

[Bryan Whittington]: pathway to learning to really understand that

it doesn’t matter the situation you just work

[Bryan Whittington]: through it you can dwell

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: on it suck your thumb about it

where you can just work on it and

[Bryan Whittington]: it took me three months to they

understand virtually everything six months to where i

[Bryan Whittington]: was really speaking well and by the

time i was leaving people didn’t even realize

[Bryan Whittington]: i was from the states they thought

i was from europe that my accent was

[Bryan Whittington]: good enough that they thought wow this

guys even american

[Nick McGowan]: wow that’s that’s a testament to immersion

because

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: if you were dumped in a spot

and you have to figure that stuff out

[Nick McGowan]: that’s vastly different than just being dumped

in a class room and being like her

[Nick McGowan]: these stupid words this is what this

stupid word means out of context or this

[Nick McGowan]: silly little sentence the fact that you

went through and you were immersed in it

[Nick McGowan]: i’ve talked to different people that have

done that and i’ve done some traveling where

[Nick McGowan]: i’ve gone to like russia a couple

of times for different different trips for the

[Nick McGowan]: church as i was at and all

and some people told me the same thing

[Nick McGowan]: they’re like you want to freshen up

on the words but at the same time

[Nick McGowan]: you’re going to get over there and

be like i don’t know what you’re talking

[Nick McGowan]: about explain it to me and then

you’ll get it because you feel like an

[Nick McGowan]: idiot you’re like i don’t understan and

uh but that’s a that’s a ton of

[Nick McGowan]: immersion so you’ve got kids now that

are some of them older like in high

[Nick McGowan]: school

[Bryan Whittington]: we have a huge range

[Nick McGowan]: okay

[Bryan Whittington]: so before i go

[Nick McGowan]: okay

[Bryan Whittington]: off that just one one point of

topic to come back to that immersion piece

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: relates to everything that you’re doing so

no matter

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: what you do whether i was flying

air and you are immersed in doing that

[Bryan Whittington]: or entrepreneurship you can only study so

much that immersion piece that actual execution at

[Bryan Whittington]: least the way i learn

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah you can look in the book

but until you’re actually doing it it doesn’t

[Bryan Whittington]: count but to answer your question we

have six kids that range from seven all

[Bryan Whittington]: the way up to

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: to eighteen

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: we’re in saying we do home schooling

right so our oldest daughter not

[Nick McGowan]: i

[Bryan Whittington]: only is she eighteen senior in high

school just graduated but now she’s going into

[Bryan Whittington]: university as a junior because she was

dol

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: enrolment so

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah we’re always going

[Nick McGowan]: i bet man i know there’ve been

a couple of conversations we’ve had just through

[Nick McGowan]: like linked in or whatever and i

could just tell them like you could you’re

[Nick McGowan]: like i’m running from place to place

to place place place and i hope i

[Nick McGowan]: get to sleep tonight sort of deal

[Bryan Whittington]: oh

[Nick McGowan]: um i do want to go back

to the emerson because i do think that’s

[Nick McGowan]: something we can really tackle a bit

because look both of us are in and

[Nick McGowan]: we’ve been in sales for a long

time and when you’re on call with a

[Nick McGowan]: prospect you can’t really just hang up

the phone and run away i mean you

[Nick McGowan]: can but that’s not going to get

anywhere so being immersed in that like i

[Nick McGowan]: think back to the early days of

sales where they were like here’s the script

[Nick McGowan]: go talk to these p and do

these things i think there’s a way to

[Nick McGowan]: go about it so when you talk

to people in sales people or people that

[Nick McGowan]: are just getting into a career now

in the regards to immersing themselves what sort

[Nick McGowan]: of advice would you give them to

do that

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah so don’t dwell on what you

don’t know because

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: even if it’s your first day you’re

going to know more than a lot of

[Bryan Whittington]: people out there so just get into

it and learn as you and people are

[Bryan Whittington]: usually pretty helpful so let’s

[Nick McGowan]: h

[Bryan Whittington]: be sales specific

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: if somebody’s they won

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: on a on a in a sales

career and they’re calling up and they’re nervous

[Bryan Whittington]: you can actually say hey listen this

my first day i’m a little bit nervous

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: you know here’s why i’m calling and

you’re going to fly that people are pretty

[Bryan Whittington]: receptive to that funny story is i

did ten years as sales training coaching salting

[Bryan Whittington]: and there’s probably five or six times

that this happened we would do live cold

[Bryan Whittington]: calls where i would call on behalf

of the client to show somebody how to

[Bryan Whittington]: do it and

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: i never called on them i don’t

sell what they did right but whenever i

[Bryan Whittington]: had

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: the person who was years in the

in the role and supposed that ly knew

[Bryan Whittington]: what was doing because they were in

front of their peers one and two trying

[Bryan Whittington]: to do it a little bit differently

at least five or six times whenever this

[Bryan Whittington]: happened they called up they call up

nick and they say click and just hang

[Bryan Whittington]: up they didn’t say a word they

didn’t do anything as soon as that other

[Bryan Whittington]: person on the

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: other line said hello they hung

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: up so all of that to say

don’t be tied to the process not the

[Bryan Whittington]: all come if you’re worried

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: about messing up guess what you will

so don’t hang on so tightly um another

[Bryan Whittington]: example of that is whenever i was

flying airplanes ou know hang on so tightly

[Bryan Whittington]: and the flight instructor say hey put

a pencil between the yoke in your hand

[Bryan Whittington]: that way if

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: you start to squeeze too tightly will

hurt same thing and everything that we do

[Bryan Whittington]: if you hang on too tightly you’re

not going to be as agile to be

[Bryan Whittington]: able to adapt to that situation and

you’re going to be thinking about everything that

[Bryan Whittington]: you should be doing or shouldn’t be

doin or what you should say or how

[Bryan Whittington]: to overcome what they’re suggesting and you’re

going to miss all the ques just really

[Bryan Whittington]: be human in the whole

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: entire tone

[Nick McGowan]: a lot of people especially sales people

forget that they are who they are they

[Nick McGowan]: jump on a call and i think

you and i have joked about this before

[Nick McGowan]: where they’re like hey so and so

hello this is jimmy bob from so and

[Nick McGowan]: so company you’re like are you kidding

me jenny

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: like that’s not you that’s

[Bryan Whittington]: yep

[Nick McGowan]: wrong that’s weird um and i do

think that a lot of people will get

[Nick McGowan]: to that point where the they kind

of hug themselves up in all situations be

[Nick McGowan]: at a sales call be it to

go into an interview or to have it

[Nick McGowan]: conversation with somebody some people think it’s

just a hard time of getting out of

[Nick McGowan]: their house being like oh i have

to go be around people and we create

[Nick McGowan]: all this ship in our head so

it’s truly about managing your mindset at that

[Nick McGowan]: point so being able to just step

into it i had a conversation with somebody

[Nick McGowan]: recently where they were going through this

potentially scary thing with a client it was

[Nick McGowan]: a big deal and i was like

look just get in there and have the

[Nick McGowan]: conversation coach along and after the call

he was like man so much easier than

[Nick McGowan]: i thought it was going to be

[Bryan Whittington]: oh

[Nick McGowan]: again did they bite your head off

no were

[Bryan Whittington]: ah

[Nick McGowan]: they a big hairy scary monster no

did they buy yeah i’m like look at

[Nick McGowan]: that he was like i don’t really

know what i was afraid of i was

[Nick McGowan]: like you dude you were afraid of

you because you create all this it in

[Nick McGowan]: your head but

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: we all do that

[Bryan Whittington]: and there’s two tactics

[Nick McGowan]: my

[Bryan Whittington]: that you can can go in there

one is an acrostic called fear right false

[Bryan Whittington]: evidence appearing real and we do that

to

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: ourselves all the time we’re so fearful

that we believe bats things are going to

[Bryan Whittington]: happen and the other thing is especially

if you’re in sales don’t have it to

[Bryan Whittington]: begin with so you can’t lose it

there is zero pressure

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: so just go in and have that

conversation but it goes to that mind set

[Bryan Whittington]: you know oftentimes people like you haven’t

changed a bit that’s the biggest insult to

[Bryan Whittington]: me because if you haven’t gotten out

of your comfort zone you’re not growing and

[Bryan Whittington]: if you’re

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: not scaring yourself every day if you’re

not messing up you’re not going to grow

[Bryan Whittington]: whatsoever so getting over that fear of

failure or fear of not being perfect because

[Bryan Whittington]: guess what no one is

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: that’s the biggest pediment to people’s success

is there stuck in that fear they’re stuck

[Bryan Whittington]: in that i need to be perfect

i need to live up to somebody else’s

[Bryan Whittington]: idea of what success is and none

of that or success is what you define

[Bryan Whittington]: it as so live that out is

really

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: my encouragement to people

[Nick McGowan]: i know it’s a bit difficult with

social media because you open

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: that up whatever

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: that app is your ig facebook god

tik tok any of it you open it

[Nick McGowan]: up

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: and you’re just in a hole and

these things are being forced into your face

[Nick McGowan]: of these people are doing these things

these people do these things as great as

[Nick McGowan]: they’re portraying them to be but it’s

really all kind of a lie and you’re

[Nick McGowan]: not seeing all the work that’s behind

it so i find that stuff interesting where

[Nick McGowan]: people get really upset with a situation

and it’s really them getting said about themselves

[Nick McGowan]: so do you kind of coach some

people through that sort of stuff i see

[Nick McGowan]: kind of smirking a little bit especially

as i said social media you’re like yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah well the reason i’m sparking

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: on it is years ago it was

probably two thousand for two thousand five have

[Bryan Whittington]: you ever read the book by tim

ferris called the four hour work week

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: okay do you remember that suggestion that

he gives about not listening to the news

[Bryan Whittington]: not watching the news

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: okay well i go in and out

of that and i’ve been

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: i was watching the news a lot

trying to stay up on what’s going on

[Bryan Whittington]: with the economy and you know going

through a bunch of different battles and pivots

[Bryan Whittington]: and this and that you talk to

people you’re on linked in i’m on linked

[Bryan Whittington]: in all the time i don’t do

any other social media except for linked in

[Bryan Whittington]: because i’m smiling because people put on

this facade and they pretend to be happy

[Bryan Whittington]: they pretend all of these things and

i think you are the one that pointed

[Bryan Whittington]: out

[Nick McGowan]: ah

[Bryan Whittington]: whatever you say you know you see

these people posting or doing a cela or

[Bryan Whittington]: something like that you’re like ore you

okay

[Nick McGowan]: are you okay

[Bryan Whittington]: because yeah why else are you

[Nick McGowan]: ye

[Bryan Whittington]: going to do other than draw attention

to yourself so

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: my real encouragement to you is don’t

follow that there’s been countless entrepenours that you

[Bryan Whittington]: know literally say we’re doing amazing everything

right and then two weeks later they’re shutting

[Bryan Whittington]: down their offices everything is going you

know they’re in bankruptcy because

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: they put on this facade now i’m

not saying go out and complain right

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: is the last thing that you want

to

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: do however you do want to be

realistic if things are rough that’s where you

[Bryan Whittington]: go hey listen things are rough but

then have that optimism that positive expectation of

[Bryan Whittington]: winning if you’re going through hell the

last thing that you want to do is

[Bryan Whittington]: stop

[Nick McGowan]: stop

[Bryan Whittington]: right keep goin and through it but

be realistic identify what your challenges are identify

[Bryan Whittington]: the real things that you’re going to

do to address those challenges no matter how

[Bryan Whittington]: scary they are no matter how bad

things seem just systematically start to attack them

[Bryan Whittington]: and then slowly but surely you’ll you’ll

be able to pull yourself out of it

[Bryan Whittington]: i mean there’s been couple of times

one time nick i had a guy partnered

[Bryan Whittington]: with i lost two hundred and fifty

thousand dollars to this guy during two thousand

[Bryan Whittington]: eight two thousand nine the economic melt

down and i was in real estate i

[Bryan Whittington]: had lost my flying career during the

health health reasons two years prior to that

[Bryan Whittington]: i mean i was getting my ass

kicked time and time again and so could

[Bryan Whittington]: have given up on everything i mean

i was staring bankruptcy down i was literally

[Bryan Whittington]: minutes away from filing bankruptcy but finally

listen to my wife and she why don’t

[Bryan Whittington]: we look at one other alternative and

thankfully we were able to avoid that and

[Bryan Whittington]: build ourselves out of it and tear

ourselves out of that but those struggles the

[Bryan Whittington]: more pressure you have m that’s the

strength that you get those are things that

[Bryan Whittington]: no one else can take away from

you and if you bear yourself under that

[Bryan Whittington]: strength a good mentor mind said there

nick he said listen the only thing that

[Bryan Whittington]: success leads to is failure however if

you pursue excellence you can be excellent on

[Bryan Whittington]: the ride up and you can be

excellent on the ride down so

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: always pursue excellence and when you fail

and you will that degree of excellence the

[Bryan Whittington]: amount of excellence that you’re living out

is how quickly you can rebound from that

[Bryan Whittington]: failure and that’s the mindset that i

always have is okay i’m not going no

[Bryan Whittington]: be scared i’m going to go and

do this and if and when i fail

[Bryan Whittington]: i’m gonna you know lessons learned i

got the scars from it but those lessons

[Bryan Whittington]: learned are what allow us to move

faster and better n even more as we

[Bryan Whittington]: go on if we don’t give up

[Nick McGowan]: absolutely and you bring up a lot

of great points i want to touch on

[Nick McGowan]: the social media side of it too

because i think that’s a platform that a

[Nick McGowan]: lot of people will use to just

talk about what they think is a good

[Nick McGowan]: thing but there

[Bryan Whittington]: hm

[Nick McGowan]: are also the types of people where

if you just allowed them to they would

[Nick McGowan]: just naturally complain constantly because

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: that’s just how the people are i

mean if you think it’s a preto principle

[Nick McGowan]: we got the twenty rule twenty percent

of people aren’t going to do that and

[Nick McGowan]: they’ll probably be like how we are

where hey i’m going through a tough spot

[Nick McGowan]: right now but this is what i’m

doing what i’m working through et cetera it’s

[Nick McGowan]: it’s interesting when you think of balance

and how people can or cannot balance themselves

[Nick McGowan]: of i’m in pain right now but

is this a m problem is this a

[Nick McGowan]: something that happened to me that is

something i need to work through in my

[Nick McGowan]: head how do i get this stuff

out how do i get help where it

[Nick McGowan]: can just be so easy especially with

not just social media but people sitting behind

[Nick McGowan]: a computer can be easy for

[Bryan Whittington]: oh

[Nick McGowan]: them to just spout out ship and

just move along and not actually do anything

[Nick McGowan]: with it so

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: what you’re talking about with being able

to actually systematically go through that i’d like

[Nick McGowan]: to play devil’s advocate on the show

because i know there’s some asshole that’s listening

[Nick McGowan]: to the show that’s like

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: fun you guys i’ve tried

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: that ship for

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: it’s not really going to work well

you know i appreciate you listen to the

[Nick McGowan]: show but fuck you as well because

realistically you’ve got to systematically go through this

[Nick McGowan]: stuff but i think the breakdown is

that people look at it and think that

[Nick McGowan]: it all has to get done right

now instead

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: of taking it day by day by

day by day and a lot of people

[Nick McGowan]: want that instant gratification we jump back

to instagram or tiktok i talked to somebody

[Nick McGowan]: yesterday it was like i’m not on

tiktok but i had to started up for

[Nick McGowan]: the business forty five minutes later i

was like what am i doing get off

[Nick McGowan]: this thing and you’re just reeling through

all of it if you can actually go

[Nick McGowan]: through and you can if you can

take the stuff that you’ve had happened to

[Nick McGowan]: you and figure out how you can

work through it bit by bit what sort

[Nick McGowan]: of advice would you give somebody to

be able to break that down and think

[Nick McGowan]: of that guy or that gal that’s

listening to this right now and go look

[Nick McGowan]: we get it but take it incrementally

[Bryan Whittington]: so a couple of things me twenty

years ago i would never believe this stuff

[Bryan Whittington]: so bear with me if you think

this is a bunch of you know happy

[Bryan Whittington]: touchy feely black magic stuff i

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: get it that was me but let

me give

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: you a couple key things one is

your mind set your mind set is so

[Bryan Whittington]: much and the way that you see

we lie to ourselves right whenever you talk

[Bryan Whittington]: to yourself so there was a book

i can’t give the author credit but he

[Bryan Whittington]: says wrote a book the things that

we say to ourselves and the joke is

[Bryan Whittington]: always hey do you talk to yourself

raise your hand in the crowd right s

[Bryan Whittington]: people that

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: aren’t raising their hands like am i

talking to myself we all do it and

[Bryan Whittington]: unfortunately

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: whenever you’re talking to yourself you’re talking

to yourself ten times faster than what you

[Bryan Whittington]: talk in person so in persons about

a hundred word a minute but when you

[Bryan Whittington]: talk to yourself it’s eight hundred a

thousand words a minute and eighty percent of

[Bryan Whittington]: that is negative so if you’re going

to lie to yourself with all this negative

[Bryan Whittington]: and negativity you might as well lie

to yours elf about who you’re looking to

[Bryan Whittington]: become so in order to overcome that

identify one and this is where most people

[Bryan Whittington]: screw up they don’t identify who they’re

looking to become they

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: very easily identify all their faults they

very easily identify all the things that they

[Bryan Whittington]: don’t have but it’s not you’re not

a human doing you’re a human being

[Nick McGowan]: p

[Bryan Whittington]: you’re not a human having you’re a

human being so who are you looking to

[Bryan Whittington]: be who are you looking to become

identify that then without pauline glasses and without

[Bryan Whittington]: beating yourself up identify those short falls

those areas where you need to improve and

[Bryan Whittington]: that’s where

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: you’re going to want to systematically put

in there what are you going to do

[Bryan Whittington]: to improve those areas and then through

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: a couple of different ways o whether

your journal identify a couple of things one

[Bryan Whittington]: ten things that you’re

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: grateful every single day what are you

grateful for that tude of gratitude drives out

[Bryan Whittington]: that negativity so much and whenever you’re

feeling yourself get negative remind yourself pull out

[Bryan Whittington]: that list what are all other things

that i’m grateful for today and then second

[Bryan Whittington]: thing is who are you those those

identifyers so there was a guy by the

[Bryan Whittington]: name of len penton costa he taught

me this right he always said i seek

[Bryan Whittington]: first to understand because you get somebody

that just attacks you what’s going on in

[Bryan Whittington]: their life if

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: i seek first to understand and then

the second thing you taught me i never

[Bryan Whittington]: take anything personally if i seek to

understand what what they’re going through and i

[Bryan Whittington]: don’t allow what they’re saying or doing

to affect me personally that’s ninety per cent

[Bryan Whittington]: of the battle and then if

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: i can take that through an attitude

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: of gratitude that gets me over so

much and then especially if i have that

[Bryan Whittington]: systematic plan to improve the areas of

weaknesses all of those things will allow you

[Bryan Whittington]: to get you get you to where

want to be it’s not overnight it’s a

[Bryan Whittington]: constant improvement and look back to

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: where you were and you’ll see how

far you’ve come but if you never look

[Bryan Whittington]: back to see how far you’ve come

and only how far you still need to

[Bryan Whittington]: that’s where we can start to get

negative

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: and start to want to give up

so those couple of areas i think could

[Bryan Whittington]: really help people to get through all

of their struggles and frustration

[Nick McGowan]: and that’s a great point about the

negative self talk you’re constantly talking to yourself

[Nick McGowan]: you know i know

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: i am i’m constantly talking with me

nick and another nick like there’s all these

[Nick McGowan]: conversations that are going on and sometimes

those guys are assholes i literally had a

[Nick McGowan]: conversation earlier where my negative self talk

came up like out of nowhere and i

[Nick McGowan]: was like you need to sit your

ass down and step away from me everything

[Nick McGowan]: was all right but being able to

have that strength to be able to do

[Nick McGowan]: that takes years to be able to

get to that point i’d like for you

[Nick McGowan]: to be able to break down what

you just said but put it in a

[Nick McGowan]: simple capital for sales people because they’m

not being scared lona to just roll off

[Nick McGowan]: their back and be like hey i

want to help you don’t want moving along

[Nick McGowan]: so what does that look like from

you if you think of that simple sales

[Nick McGowan]: person and how they can go about

it

[Bryan Whittington]: so to one is the saying so

it’s s w s w s w so

[Bryan Whittington]: it’s some will some wont somewhat

[Nick McGowan]: what

[Bryan Whittington]: next if you can keep that refrain

as you’re going through you know some will

[Bryan Whittington]: some won’t so what next that’s one

piece the other piece is an acrostic that

[Bryan Whittington]: we call biggles um so spell out

the word beggles but with two s and

[Bryan Whittington]: so you identify in the you do

this in the morning or the night before

[Bryan Whittington]: you identify what are the behaviors that

i’m going to do tomorrow or today and

[Bryan Whittington]: you identify all the things that you’re

goin to accomplish then you go to he

[Bryan Whittington]: what is your what are those affirmations

that you’re going to do and i didn’t

[Bryan Whittington]: identify ten things of who you’re looking

to become first person present tense you know

[Bryan Whittington]: you know one mentor mind he always

said i’m a heat seeking missal for pain

[Bryan Whittington]: budget and decision right for

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: his sales piece

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: i never take anything personally i’m better

today than i was yesterday so

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: those different affirmations whatever those are for

you but have those so that’s a g

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: is your goals always keep those goals

that’s your internal motivation what are you the

[Bryan Whittington]: go that you’re seeking and how are

you doing against those goals then g your

[Bryan Whittington]: areas of gratitude and going to suggest

ten then e this is this non polyanic

[Bryan Whittington]: non you know rose colored glass is

evaluate how are you doing today don’t beat

[Bryan Whittington]: yourself up but evaluate how am i

doing against my goals how am i doing

[Bryan Whittington]: against my my behaviour that i was

supposed to do so that’s evaluate than l

[Bryan Whittington]: what are the lessons learned from those

lessons you can improve and then lastly s

[Bryan Whittington]: ended on a positive what were my

successes today so some wills some won’t so

[Bryan Whittington]: what next for that mind set and

then beggs from that acrostic those two tools

[Bryan Whittington]: can

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: help whether you’re in sales or anything

to keep moving

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: forward

[Nick McGowan]: yeah just in life in general i

know that there’s certain people that hear that

[Nick McGowan]: sort of stuff and they go that’s

cool i don’t want extra work i don’t

[Nick McGowan]: want to do

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: extra things at the same time look

if your leg was broken your arms broken

[Nick McGowan]: you’re going to go do what you

need to do to fix it so it’s

[Nick McGowan]: a matter of prioritizing that but if

we break it down for the people that

[Nick McGowan]: what’s one thing that you would suggest

out of all that that’s kind of the

[Nick McGowan]: crux to it or at least the

place to start

[Bryan Whittington]: know who you’re looking to become

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: you don’t know who you’re looking to

become and why nothing else matters and if

[Bryan Whittington]: you choose

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: not to do it that’s fine but

don’t complain about your current circumstances

[Nick McGowan]: m hm

[Bryan Whittington]: you don’t like what you have listen

you’re not going to like this because this

[Bryan Whittington]: is not this is not what most

people want to hear if you don’t like

[Bryan Whittington]: what you have or if you don’t

like who you are you only have you

[Bryan Whittington]: in the mirror to to blame because

if you played victim

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: well i can’t do anything about it

whereas

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: if you take responsibility now you have

control now you can do something about it

[Bryan Whittington]: so i’d really encourage you never play

victim because then you can’t change and you

[Bryan Whittington]: you have that victim mindset instead no

matter what even if you get mugged walking

[Bryan Whittington]: down the street identify what role you

had in it you know what i should

[Bryan Whittington]: have known better than to walk through

that neighborhood at two a m

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: by myself right identify what areas of

control you had so you don’t do it

[Bryan Whittington]: again so that would be my biggest

ncouragement for you

[Nick McGowan]: that’s a good one man and look

i know that for the most part we

[Nick McGowan]: say on this show and what’s recorded

goes out to the rest of the world

[Nick McGowan]: but as you’re saying that something popped

into my mind i saw something earlier today

[Nick McGowan]: on social media about some pastor that

was wearing a million dollars worth of jewelry

[Nick McGowan]: and was robbed mid service

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: his million dollars

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: worth the jewelry on him my initial

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: question was what the fuck why would

you have that much jewelry on you no

[Nick McGowan]: matter

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: where you are what is what is

your deal so king about that sort of

[Nick McGowan]: stuff like kind of i don’t want

to say he asked for it but he

[Nick McGowan]: set himself up to be in that

spot where somebody’s going to potentially rob you

[Nick McGowan]: so even being mindful of your own

space of like what do you bringing to

[Nick McGowan]: the to the space that you’re in

what sort of energy you bring in what

[Nick McGowan]: is it that you have that you’re

bringing into something if it gets a big

[Nick McGowan]: thing like some people will kind of

go into a situation and they they almost

[Nick McGowan]: allow their ego to just move them

through it in that ego then sometimes bite

[Nick McGowan]: you on the ass and million dollars

jory is stolen right off your body

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah well be curious to pastor like

that he’s probably a namen claimant kind of

[Bryan Whittington]: guy so i’d be curious as to

you know how he’s going to work around

[Bryan Whittington]: that one

[Nick McGowan]: maybe i don’t know we all got

to talk to somebody at the end of

[Nick McGowan]: end of life the pearly gates and

i’d like to be a wall flower for

[Nick McGowan]: that conversation

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: the

[Bryan Whittington]: exactly

[Nick McGowan]: talk about peter gonna let it different

story well men appreciate what we’ve gotten to

[Nick McGowan]: so far let’s actually take a little

bit of a step back are there any

[Nick McGowan]: major moments throughout the course of time

in your life because you’ve hinted at a

[Nick McGowan]: couple of them that were kind of

pivotal moments for you

[Bryan Whittington]: so i’d say one is whenever i

was just out of high school as an

[Bryan Whittington]: exchange student learning to be self sufficient

and

[Nick McGowan]: m

[Bryan Whittington]: figure things out on my own then

whenever i went to pilot training

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: i was told by a guy m

shoemaker was my sixth grade math teacher and

[Bryan Whittington]: he always said he why can’t you

be more like your sister and believe that

[Bryan Whittington]: and what i was able to do

in going through military flight training because it’s

[Bryan Whittington]: a pretty exclusive club to be in

as as a

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: military pilot that really gave me confidence

that wait a second maybe i’m i’m smart

[Bryan Whittington]: enough that mer

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: shoemaker was wrong so that was another

key pipfital moment and then whenever i lost

[Bryan Whittington]: my career my flying career because i

had so much of my age and you

[Bryan Whittington]: talked about it earlier couched in what

i did rather than who i was as

[Bryan Whittington]: a pilot so

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: you know it’s kind of funny how

do you know that a person is a

[Bryan Whittington]: doctor how do you know what person

is a pilot or you know somebody who

[Bryan Whittington]: rides rides a road bike they always

tell you right their

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: ego and their personality so wrapped up

in it and that’s not who you are

[Bryan Whittington]: so what you do is who you

are that was another key piece and then

[Bryan Whittington]: whenever that person took me to the

tune of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: that was another key piece right that

was a quarter million dollars and that we’re

[Bryan Whittington]: still getting out from under that but

if you think about it that could have

[Bryan Whittington]: eliminated most people a lot of people

you know

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: they would go to drugs or alcohol

or even commit suicide over that but we

[Bryan Whittington]: battled way through that and then having

down turns in the economy with business as

[Bryan Whittington]: you’re starting off and all the pivots

through that so all of those key pieces

[Bryan Whittington]: nick were all i think pivotal moments

where when faced with challenge when faced with

[Bryan Whittington]: possible defeat you continue on or do

you do you give up and i think

[Bryan Whittington]: those key pivotal moments were all times

where i decided to move on with

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: one exception where i had to take

a strategic retreat in a pause then i

[Bryan Whittington]: got back into it as soon as

i could so now when to pause if

[Bryan Whittington]: it’s a strategic applause but never give

up

[Nick McGowan]: what did that look like that strategic

pause

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah the strategic pause was you know

i had a wife and three kids at

[Bryan Whittington]: that point and i had to provide

right that was my

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: responsibility and so i wasn’t able to

provide in the down turn in two thousand

[Bryan Whittington]: nine in real estate to take too

long so i had to take a w

[Bryan Whittington]: to job but that w two job

i realized this was not at all what

[Bryan Whittington]: i wanted to do i could not

handle that corporate life it just was energy

[Bryan Whittington]: life sucking so as soon as i

was able to i got back into it

[Bryan Whittington]: so i left a secure w to

job and i went to a commission only

[Bryan Whittington]: an independent contract or whenever i had

that immense um mountain of debt looming over

[Bryan Whittington]: me where there wasn’t any security blanket

and i just went forward and made it

[Bryan Whittington]: happen so that’s really where i think

if you want something badly enough you’ll just

[Bryan Whittington]: make it happen if you know why

you want it

[Nick McGowan]: that’s a great point you had four

wise your wife and three kids that are

[Nick McGowan]: behind you saying we need you to

go do this thing but talk to us

[Nick McGowan]: a bit about your mindsetspecifically going through

the pilot whole situation and growing into becoming

[Nick McGowan]: that person experiencing that and then being

taken away i almost think of it as

[Nick McGowan]: like an athlete that breaks their legs

and can’t get into the n f l

[Nick McGowan]: or something so how did you manage

your mindset throughout that time

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah that was that was hard because

not only did i lose who i was

[Bryan Whittington]: my identity as a pilot and what

i had been working for that was ten

[Bryan Whittington]: years of really hard work you know

i paid civilian wise to be able to

[Bryan Whittington]: go and become a pilot then i

ended up in the military as a pilot

[Bryan Whittington]: so that was a decade of my

life of learning how to be a good

[Bryan Whittington]: pilot right so that was i was

grounded in that and that in that identity

[Bryan Whittington]: and whenever that got washed away and

i had the health issues on top of

[Bryan Whittington]: it i mean every single day with

a migraine or vertico

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: you cannot function at your highest and

best and there is always a mental cloud

[Bryan Whittington]: that you had to go through and

so it was just a matter of hey

[Bryan Whittington]: am am i going to dwell on

this in what as me or am i

[Bryan Whittington]: just going to deal with it and

have

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: the best life that i can possibly

have and that’s what i’ve chosen to do

[Bryan Whittington]: and it’s it’s a choice you have

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: to decide what do you want and

that’s really it i’d love to say it

[Bryan Whittington]: was something other than that but it’s

really a choice and it’s a daily choice

[Bryan Whittington]: and sometimes especially whenever you’re going through

the thick of it and you’re really in

[Bryan Whittington]: pain or you’re really down you know

oh listen how are you going to choose

[Bryan Whittington]: to to to interpret what’s going on

around you right

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: so a case in point if i

had a great evening with my wife and

[Bryan Whittington]: the next morning i spilled my cup

cup of cup of coffee i’m not going

[Bryan Whittington]: to but i’m like yeh that’s things

let me clean it up i’m good to

[Bryan Whittington]: go whereas if i’m miserable and frustrate

and had a bad evening and that same

[Bryan Whittington]: thing happens i’m like i might

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: as well talk in roll i’m going

to tuck my covers back and

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: roll back over in bed same circumstance

but how i chose to react was that

[Bryan Whittington]: a choice and so

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: it really comes down to the choice

that you choose

[Nick McGowan]: good call and there’s kind of choice

stacking in a sense as you continue to

[Nick McGowan]: make those choices and you stack upon

and stack upon and stck upon that stuff

[Nick McGowan]: gets easier so think about it even

the way you are right now i think

[Nick McGowan]: if you and your wife had a

rough evening hopefully tonight’s not a bad one

[Nick McGowan]: for you guys

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: but tomorrow

[Bryan Whittington]: exactly

[Nick McGowan]: morning if you spilled your coffee you’d

probably still be like damn spill coffee be

[Nick McGowan]: upset just that you don’t have that

coffee in front of you right now and

[Nick McGowan]: then you just go get another one

and you’re moving along because of the decisions

[Nick McGowan]: you’ve made over the course of time

i know there are some people and i’m

[Nick McGowan]: not sure if they’re part of this

audience but people in the audience know people

[Nick McGowan]: that are like this some of them

are family members fuck you might be married

[Nick McGowan]: to this person

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: but some of those people

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: just prepare you wait that and continue

to perpetuate that we is the people that

[Nick McGowan]: want to get away from that need

to be able to look at a different

[Nick McGowan]: way and kind of take yourself out

of that situation but for yourself Bryan when

[Nick McGowan]: you go through your daily work what

did your daily work look like to make

[Nick McGowan]: sure that you conti you to make

those wise choices

[Bryan Whittington]: well it’s exactly so i’m not telling

you anything that i’m not doing right i’m

[Bryan Whittington]: not taking this from a hey i

read this once

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: i’ve completely and i just again i’ve

completely given up news i was getting down

[Bryan Whittington]: into more negativity than i wanted and

so i gave up all news i left

[Bryan Whittington]: social media probably back in an around

twenty sixteen i left left social media that

[Bryan Whittington]: just nothing but a time suck i

gave up you know we were joking around

[Bryan Whittington]: with sports teams before i used to

love football avid football plan fan i gave

[Bryan Whittington]: that up i mean the team would

lose and i would take it personally i

[Bryan Whittington]: don’t have anything

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: invested so anything that is not going

to allow me to provide better for my

[Bryan Whittington]: family provide better for my clients become

a better version of who i’m looking to

[Bryan Whittington]: become i’ve given that a lot and

so i’ve i’ve done all of those things

[Bryan Whittington]: i’ve excited those and in place i’ve

put in extra study i do the beagles

[Bryan Whittington]: acrostic that i’ve told you about at

the end of every single day identify what

[Bryan Whittington]: i’m going to do the next day

and then i attack that through a systematic

[Bryan Whittington]: i have my calendar completely time blocked

and then i i identify how well did

[Bryan Whittington]: i do in my time block today

i was ninety percent yesterday i was eighty

[Bryan Whittington]: six percent but in that ninety per

cent today i could probably say i was

[Bryan Whittington]: really a hundred because those time i

said i didn’t execute exactly what it is

[Bryan Whittington]: what i was doing allying to that

it was just a little bit more thinking

[Bryan Whittington]: and planning than that

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: tactical execution so i track everything to

make sure or that i’m going along to

[Bryan Whittington]: achieve the goals that i want

[Nick McGowan]: awesome man and i know it may

sound like a lot of work people that

[Nick McGowan]: are listening that don’t actively do it

once you actually start moving on it like

[Nick McGowan]: i think of journaling a lot of

people really don’t want a journal i fought

[Nick McGowan]: against journaling for years and years and

years

[Bryan Whittington]: i

[Nick McGowan]: that

[Bryan Whittington]: hate

[Nick McGowan]: would

[Bryan Whittington]: journalist

[Nick McGowan]: i did as well but if you

[Bryan Whittington]: uh

[Nick McGowan]: do it in the right way you

you do it right for yourself i used

[Nick McGowan]: to think oh my god i need

to write this giant thesis of every single

[Nick McGowan]: thing that happened and that’s not it

i mean part of what i do is

[Nick McGowan]: gratitudes the ten gratitudes

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: every day in the morning and at

night and then things that were my lessons

[Nick McGowan]: over all and said could have been

better some favorite moments and accomplishments but you

[Nick McGowan]: get into that rhythm and it just

becomes forced a habit now do you have

[Nick McGowan]: anything that helps you like with a

time blocking like an app that you follow

[Nick McGowan]: or is it just you you follow

the bible of outlook

[Bryan Whittington]: full of the bible avilookei’ve tried different

ap

[Nick McGowan]: okay

[Bryan Whittington]: the last thing i need is another

other thing to do so i just throw

[Nick McGowan]: uh

[Bryan Whittington]: it on

[Nick McGowan]: h

[Bryan Whittington]: throw it on my outlook and then

every saturday i planned two weeks out that

[Bryan Whittington]: way

[Nick McGowan]: nice

[Bryan Whittington]: it’s not everything is

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: very intentional

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: so for example and i can i

can send this i have a youtube

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: umyoutubevideo that i did on

[Nick McGowan]: yeah

[Bryan Whittington]: how i do time blocking

[Nick McGowan]: yeah it

[Bryan Whittington]: but really create the perfect week

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: if you identify the perfect week

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: so let’s take sales if i know

that i’m supposed to have five

[Nick McGowan]: yes

[Bryan Whittington]: first time meetings or ten first time

meetings

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: in a week i’ll put those ten

first time

[Nick McGowan]: oh

[Bryan Whittington]: meetings on the calendar as an open

block and that way i can schedule into

[Bryan Whittington]: it those first time meetings but if

i don’t have

[Nick McGowan]: yes

[Bryan Whittington]: a first time meeting guess what that

is forced prospecting to i have

[Nick McGowan]: hm

[Bryan Whittington]: study time on their exercise time on

their strategic planning time i have i’ve just

[Bryan Whittington]: recently started putting lunches because i’ve skipped

lunches i have my

[Nick McGowan]: i

[Bryan Whittington]: family

[Nick McGowan]: know that life

[Bryan Whittington]: time that way i end right and

with my

[Nick McGowan]: okay

[Bryan Whittington]: family for dinner that’s you know every

single night we looked to have dinner together

[Bryan Whittington]: as a family to maintain the those

bonds

[Nick McGowan]: it’s awesome and time blocking is almost

like a super power because you get to

[Nick McGowan]: play jas within those walls at whatever

time you’re in you get to actually

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: focus and do that stuff instead of

just going home my god this project took

[Nick McGowan]: me forever sorry honey take me another

couple of hours to be able to get

[Nick McGowan]: home now you work from home so

i’m sure she’d be pretty pissed if you

[Nick McGowan]: said that from your office should be

like that’s finn s out here we need

[Nick McGowan]: to eat

[Bryan Whittington]: traffic is arendous you can’t believe all

the kids i had to get around

[Nick McGowan]: exactly when you get these kids out

[Bryan Whittington]: yeah

[Nick McGowan]: oh man

[Bryan Whittington]: oh

[Nick McGowan]: Bryan well i appreciate you being on

yesterday that no matter what you’re going to

[Bryan Whittington]: have frustrations and if you don’t give

up tomorrow you’ll be even better version of

[Bryan Whittington]: yourself so cut yourself some grace now

it’s a marathon

[Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s good stuff man appreciate the

wisdom appreciate your being on let’s stay in

[Bryan Whittington]: thanks i appreciate it
