Episode summary: Kevin Palmieri is a successful podcaster, but becoming this podcaster was no easy road. It started with Kevin working a regular job and making good money.
From the outside, it looked like he had it all. He had money, a girlfriend, a house, cars, tattoos, and everything most of us think about, yet, he was miserable enough to debate suicide.
Knowing there was no choice, he quit his job and promised that he would never clock in for anyone else ever again.
He took a giant leap of faith, and the only goal right now was just to get rent paid. Starting something new from scratch takes a little while before money comes in, so Kevin struggled with money, struggled to get to the studio, and struggled mentally, feeling like an imposter. He never gave up.
He persistently kept pushing forward. Eventually, everything started to come together.

[Kevin Palmieri]: i am doing well Nick thank youso much for having me and we had
[Kevin Palmieri]: a little conversation behind the scenes buti’m excited to see where we go in
[Kevin Palmieri]: front [Nick McGowan]: yeah exactly especially man i love havinganother podcast host on the show i have
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: them every so often and it’s stufflike that where you start talking about the
[Nick McGowan]: ship that we talked about right beforejust
[Kevin Palmieri]: hm [Nick McGowan]: like a normal podcast though so dudei appreciate
[Kevin Palmieri]: of [Nick McGowan]: it [Kevin Palmieri]: course [Nick McGowan]: and you’ve had your show for along time you’re what over well over a
[Nick McGowan]: thousand episodes at this point [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: right [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah as of today one thousand onehundred and forty one we recorded this morning
[Kevin Palmieri]: so yea we are we are acrossthe threshold that i never thought we would
[Kevin Palmieri]: get to [Nick McGowan]: that’s awesome [Kevin Palmieri]: thank you [Nick McGowan]: so that’s one of the that’s oneof the reasons why i want to have
[Nick McGowan]: you on here but as the mindset self mastery show there’s a lot of
[Nick McGowan]: ship that you’ve gone through that we’llkind of get into
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: and with you being a eleven hundredplus episodes and i think you’re going to
[Nick McGowan]: be number sixty three for me [Kevin Palmieri]: right [Nick McGowan]: so [Kevin Palmieri]: on [Nick McGowan]: i’ve got a little way [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: is to catch up with you but [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: Kevin wanted you set the stage forus man tell us what you do and
[Nick McGowan]: one thing that most people don’t knowabout you that’s maybe a little odd or
[Nick McGowan]: bazar [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah so i am Kevin paul maryi am the c f o the host
[Kevin Palmieri]: and the founder of next level universitywhere a global top one hundred podcast eleven
[Kevin Palmieri]: hundred and some lad episodes top onehundred show listeners hundred andtwentyfive plus countries honestly
[Kevin Palmieri]: that is really me in a nutshelli am a podcastor first entrepreneur speaker coach
[Kevin Palmieri]: but that all really comes second tome and i would say something that most
[Kevin Palmieri]: people wouldn’t know because i don’t havea ton of followers on social media is
[Kevin Palmieri]: i like wrapping i love wrapping ifeel very comfortable in front of this microphone
[Kevin Palmieri]: and somebody who never had any musicalinclination if you give me an hour to
[Kevin Palmieri]: bust out some some bars i canusually do it pretty well pretty well
[Nick McGowan]: where did that come from did yougrow up listening to wrap where
[Kevin Palmieri]: ah [Nick McGowan]: you in a household where your momjust had like eighties wrap just blasting
[Kevin Palmieri]: no it’s it’s interesting i remember andthis was this was weird i remember nellie
[Kevin Palmieri]: dropped an album called country grammar ibelieve that was one of his first albums
[Kevin Palmieri]: and i remember i listened to thatin my bedroom with my mom the unedited
[Kevin Palmieri]: version and i was like this [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: is unreasonably uncomfortable good [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: album it was a good album [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: but i remember i’m assuming you wereon aim a ol instant messenger
[Nick McGowan]: oh yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i was i was virtual with abuddy of mine and we said hey let’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: try to run p i’ll say catyou say fat i’ll say bat you say
[Kevin Palmieri]: pat let’s just wrap words rhyme wordsback and forth and when we started to
[Kevin Palmieri]: get into like two three four fivesyllables i realized that i could do it
[Kevin Palmieri]: and he couldn’t and [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: that for me was like oh maybei’m good at this like i understand the
[Kevin Palmieri]: syllables i understand the way it’s upposed to flow okay cool and then i
[Kevin Palmieri]: started just writing on onfacebook notes andthat was really kind of the big in
[Kevin Palmieri]: for me [Nick McGowan]: what a cool thing [Kevin Palmieri]: right [Nick McGowan]: so do you actually do you havean album that you’re either dropping or you
[Nick McGowan]: want to tell us that [Kevin Palmieri]: no [Nick McGowan]: you’re like [Kevin Palmieri]: no [Nick McGowan]: you know i did this album liketen years ago
[Kevin Palmieri]: no i think at some point iprobably will honestly but it’s hard right there’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: so much going on that i don’twant to i don’t want to take time
[Kevin Palmieri]: away from the main thing to dosomething like that when i know in the
[Kevin Palmieri]: future i’ll have them means in thetime to do to do more of that
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: so in the future Nick i willsend it to you first until
[Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: then it [Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: will remain behind behind closed doors [Nick McGowan]: well it’s interesting that you say thatyou know there’s i think there’s a thing
[Nick McGowan]: about being passionate about what you’re doingloving what you’re doing
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: but you at times at least formyself and a lot of people i talk
[Nick McGowan]: to they need to step the funkaway at times
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: like you have you ever found yourselfjust kind of beating upon something where it
[Nick McGowan]: just takes you focusing your energy abit differently maybe wrapping or something just to
[Nick McGowan]: be able to kind of get outof that space that you’re in
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah i’m a big i’m a bigmixed martial arts fan so when there’s
[Nick McGowan]: okay [Kevin Palmieri]: fight cards on i work i’ll workin the morning on saturday but then i
[Kevin Palmieri]: kind of shut it down but thething about it is in a way the
[Kevin Palmieri]: goals that we have are dictating theday to day so honestly no
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i haven’t shut it down in fiveyears really
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: like i haven’t taken a v ihaven’t taken a day off in probably five
[Kevin Palmieri]: is because the mission that we haveis to change the world and
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: it’s not going to happen if i’mout here bsnandhanging out there’s a lot that
[Kevin Palmieri]: has to go into it so buti always and i always try to preface
[Kevin Palmieri]: that with look if you’re goals aregoing o dictate the journey and it’s very
[Kevin Palmieri]: important that you understand that especially whenyou’re setting big goals but also if you
[Kevin Palmieri]: want to be a millionaire quote unquotethat might not be as challenging as you
[Kevin Palmieri]: think you’re still you [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: know you be able to do vacationand have weekends and go to the kids
[Kevin Palmieri]: sock or practice or whatever there’s there’san important understanding that your results that you
[Kevin Palmieri]: want are going to dictate the journeyand i try to make sure i’m folk
[Kevin Palmieri]: done that [Nick McGowan]: that makes sense and i’m sure you’realso smart enough there are times where you
[Nick McGowan]: just go all right i don’t wantto do this any more but you talked
[Nick McGowan]: about being able to step away sokind of thinking through a week when maybe
[Nick McGowan]: there’s like a u f c orsomething
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: like that on mondays you’re like allright
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: maybe i need to crunch us alittle quicker because i don’t want saturday to
[Nick McGowan]: come bite me in the s [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: when i just want to go watchthat
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah yeah a hundred percent the otherthing too though is we’re in this interesting
[Kevin Palmieri]: time now where finally demand has caughtup with supply so like there’s
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: an unreal amount of demand for mytime which i’m so grateful for we’ve been
[Kevin Palmieri]: working so hard for that but saturdaysit’s like there is coaching calls there’s podcast
[Kevin Palmieri]: there’s team stuff so saturday is nowworking day too even if i do all
[Kevin Palmieri]: the work on monday through friday there’salways going to be something to do saturday
[Kevin Palmieri]: sunday is family day i do notdo anything front facing sunday i’ll i’ll do
[Kevin Palmieri]: some behind the scene stuff and backoffice work but only like three hours nothing
[Kevin Palmieri]: crazy on sundays [Nick McGowan]: cha so [Kevin Palmieri]: ye [Nick McGowan]: let’s talk about the eleven hundred episodesyou’ve done
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: so far i know there milestones shipeven
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: when i first started people were tellingme if you get to do number one
[Nick McGowan]: that’s huge if you do ten mostpeople don’t get to ten
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: if you get to fifty or hundred [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but you’ve started to hit those clipsif you look back at some of those
[Nick McGowan]: and knowing the conversations you’ve had andabout this being about mind set and self
[Nick McGowan]: mastery how would you say that yourlife has changed the course of those milestones
[Nick McGowan]: again you look back and go youknow it was about episode ninety eight where
[Nick McGowan]: things really changed [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: or you know four hundred twenty eightyou know
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah i always say this it tookme a hundred and fifty podcast episodes to
[Kevin Palmieri]: feel confident as a podcaster before that [Nick McGowan]: oh [Kevin Palmieri]: when we would have guests on iwanted to jump out the window because in
[Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: my mind it’s [Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: in pa just in rome this personis going to know you don’t know what
[Kevin Palmieri]: the hell you’re talking about what [Nick McGowan]: he [Kevin Palmieri]: if you mis pronounce their name whichhas happened of course what if you
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: forget what you want to ask whatif you mess up what whatever what if
[Kevin Palmieri]: you’re sweating through your cloth [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: that for me i crossed the chasmafter that because it was like okay you’re
[Kevin Palmieri]: not it’s not pretend any more you’redoing a
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: real thing most people don’t get towhere you’ve and and then eventually i think
[Kevin Palmieri]: we were probably like maybe three hundredepisodes in three hundred and fifty episodes in
[Kevin Palmieri]: and we ended up getting our owncustomer studio and that was a shift for
[Kevin Palmieri]: me too because it was like ifelt more like a professional and i think
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: you have to check in with doesyour environment match your energy if your environment
[Kevin Palmieri]: doesn’t match your energy and your attitudethat’s very very important like my studio is
[Kevin Palmieri]: set up in a special way becausei want it to be this way for
[Kevin Palmieri]: me because it helps me remember podcastorpodcastor podcast or so
[Nick McGowan]: yep [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah and there there were some gueststhat we had to that i didn’t number
[Kevin Palmieri]: one i didn’t expect to get andi didn’t expect the interview to go as
[Kevin Palmieri]: well as they did and i thinkthat was kind of like a chasm of
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh you know what we’re actually prettygood at this and we’re getting a lot
[Kevin Palmieri]: of really positive feedback if these peoplebelieve in what we’re doing i could probably
[Kevin Palmieri]: and to believe in myself a littlebit more that was very important for
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: me [Nick McGowan]: was there any that come to mindthat you’re like man this was kind of
[Nick McGowan]: a pivotal one [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah evan car michael we interviewed evancar michael for those who don’t know he’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: very big on you tube spoken withtony robins he’s a very successful entrepreneur and
[Kevin Palmieri]: we were scheduled to interview him fortwenty minutes and we got to the end
[Kevin Palmieri]: of the twenty minutes i said evethank you so much for joining us appreciate
[Kevin Palmieri]: it plug your book you know whateverwhatever you do at the end of podcasts
[Kevin Palmieri]: and he said no keep going iwant to keep going with you guys because
[Kevin Palmieri]: you guys are are really good i’mhaving a blast you guys are awesome i
[Kevin Palmieri]: want to keep going that interview wasone of the best we’ve ever done then
[Kevin Palmieri]: they his team emailed us like sixmonths later invited us up to toronto to
[Kevin Palmieri]: interview him in person at his [Nick McGowan]: nice [Kevin Palmieri]: toronto dance sas which he owns hethat up speaking at one of our events
[Kevin Palmieri]: that we cohosted and he actually justdeemed me out of the blue it was
[Kevin Palmieri]: so weird a very serial moment fora kid who did not expect to get
[Kevin Palmieri]: to this point he sent me avideo and said hey cave congrats on a
[Kevin Palmieri]: thousand episodes let’s do a thousand episodereunion just reach out to the team and
[Kevin Palmieri]: we’ll get a book so somebody atthe beginning that we wanted as a guest
[Kevin Palmieri]: and weren’t sure if we could getis now d m ing me saying hey
[Kevin Palmieri]: i want to come back on sothat yeah it’s
[Nick McGowan]: what [Kevin Palmieri]: come [Nick McGowan]: a wild [Kevin Palmieri]: full [Nick McGowan]: thing [Kevin Palmieri]: circle in a lot of ways andit feels good but it’s just a reminder
[Kevin Palmieri]: in the beginning you can’t expect muchit
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: compounds it takes time it’s just partof the course
[Nick McGowan]: yeah i’m easy to say [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: harder to do for most people butas you get further and further and further
[Nick McGowan]: i’m sure at some point have youexperienced where you’re like well you know i
[Nick McGowan]: can come this far can’t really turnaround now can
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: can’t really shut it down [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: so you’re you’re already in it doesthat bring a different does that bring a
[Nick McGowan]: different set of problems mentally at thatpoint
[Kevin Palmieri]: so i was making i made ahundred thousand dollars when i was twenty six
[Kevin Palmieri]: and i ended up sitting on theedge of a bed debating suicide because i
[Kevin Palmieri]: was so miserable with my life andi
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: thought money and the girl friend andthe body and the tattoos and the call
[Kevin Palmieri]: or whatever i thought all that stuffwas going to fix my the inner voids
[Kevin Palmieri]: that i had and when it didn’tit actually made it worse because i said
[Kevin Palmieri]: well now now what i don’t knowwhat else to
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: do so when i left that jobi told my mother and i told my
[Kevin Palmieri]: grandmother i said i will never puncha clock for somebody else ever again i
[Kevin Palmieri]: will either succeed at this or iwill die true and there there was no
[Kevin Palmieri]: other option for me and i thinkpart of it is the ego part of
[Kevin Palmieri]: me and the pride [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: but [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i said it publicly i said look [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i’m going to figure this out i’mgoing to do this for him long as
[Kevin Palmieri]: i can and i had the thefear i had Nick was i remember in
[Kevin Palmieri]: the very beginning my process of thinkingwas i need to find a way to
[Kevin Palmieri]: make rent at the end of themonth
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: i just got to make enough moneyto pay rent i got to make enough
[Kevin Palmieri]: money to get this car payment downlike that was where i was i was
[Kevin Palmieri]: in the pool i was so obsessedwith just learning how to swim i didn’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: want to go back i was soafraid that one day i was going to
[Kevin Palmieri]: wake up and have to go backi was terrified of that and i think
[Kevin Palmieri]: that made me do a lot ofthings that i probably wouldn’t have normally done
[Kevin Palmieri]: learning i was learning about money going [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: so far outside of my comfort zoneto the point where i was having panic
[Kevin Palmieri]: attacks regularly i don’t think i wouldhave done any of that stuff so it’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: it’s a pressure for sure it’s aheavy heavy heavy weight but i don’t know
[Kevin Palmieri]: that i would have succeeded any otherway because i think if i i do
[Kevin Palmieri]: think if i had a plan bi probably would have would have taken it
[Kevin Palmieri]: because it got hard [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: i mean it was there two yearsin a row my i couldn’t buy christmas
[Kevin Palmieri]: presents for my girl friend she’s mywife now but i couldn’t afford christmas present
[Kevin Palmieri]: my car broke down and i wasliterally driving to the studio with a car
[Kevin Palmieri]: that the breaks barely worked there wasa hole in one of the pistons so
[Kevin Palmieri]: every time i stopped it would stallor any time i was
[Nick McGowan]: so [Kevin Palmieri]: going like below ten miles an hourthe car would just stall and i’m driving
[Kevin Palmieri]: an hour to the studio times aweek to record episodes and i was in
[Kevin Palmieri]: debt a ton i had creditors afterme at one point it was brutal it
[Kevin Palmieri]: was brutal so if i think ifi could have gone back and i had
[Kevin Palmieri]: an out i might have taken itso i’m very great i didn’t
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: in retrospect [Nick McGowan]: what a thing you’re like oh thankgod i burnt all the ships all of
[Nick McGowan]: them were done [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: it’s an interesting perspective man especially beingso far into what you’re doing i know
[Nick McGowan]: there are a lot of people thatare debating that jump from either or job
[Nick McGowan]: they have now or from the businessthey have into a different business and there
[Nick McGowan]: are often times i get asked thequestion like how do you know when to
[Nick McGowan]: do that how do you [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: know when to actually go forward anddo that thing so what sort of would
[Nick McGowan]: you give those people [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah i always say pick your mudso there’s any time you’re transitioning from one
[Kevin Palmieri]: thing to another you’re going to havethere’s a couple different pieces of mud or
[Kevin Palmieri]: i guess paths of mud you couldhave number one you eve the safety of
[Kevin Palmieri]: what you’re doing and you risk beingbroke and you risk circumstantially failing if you
[Kevin Palmieri]: have a family you have a homeyou have a mortgage you have car
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: you know you have kids that’s adifferent thing so i always say pick mud
[Kevin Palmieri]: and what i mean by that isif you’re working forty five hours a week
[Kevin Palmieri]: at something you don’t like then startworking five hours a week something you do
[Kevin Palmieri]: and then get that five hours toten and then you know that ten to
[Kevin Palmieri]: fifty is it going to suck yeahabsolutely but is it going to suck as
[Kevin Palmieri]: much as you’re doing something you don’tlike for the next twenty five years now
[Kevin Palmieri]: that’s the mud the mud is [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: there will be discomfort from dis comefort to happiness or joy or fulfillment whatever
[Kevin Palmieri]: it is but most people only seei’m unhappy it’s going to create more unhappiness
[Kevin Palmieri]: for me to try this [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t believe it will be worthit so yeah
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: you number one you have to believeit will be worth it if you do
[Kevin Palmieri]: not believe the shift will be worthit you will not do it
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: and you have to figure out whatlevel of mud is the most sustainable for
[Kevin Palmieri]: you leaving a six figure income formost people to become a broke podcaster is
[Kevin Palmieri]: not sustainable because i didn’t have kidsmy car was paid off shortly after i
[Kevin Palmieri]: left i lived with my buddy iwas paying five hundred bucks a month for
[Kevin Palmieri]: rent so i set myself up circumstantiallymy mud
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: was being broke other people’s mud mightbe staying at the job a year and
[Kevin Palmieri]: a half longer than they want tobut yeah you really got t get very
[Kevin Palmieri]: very clear on the mud that you’rewilling to crawl through and ask yourself do
[Kevin Palmieri]: i believe it will be worth itmy bone because if you don’t you will
[Kevin Palmieri]: not continue because it doesn’t make senselogically as a human being to do something
[Kevin Palmieri]: you don’t [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: believe will be worth it [Nick McGowan]: well logic when you’re talking about crazypeople
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: doesn’t really matter [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: they not ing care they can’t handleit
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: because they’re [Kevin Palmieri]: it’s [Nick McGowan]: not [Kevin Palmieri]: fair [Nick McGowan]: logical you [Kevin Palmieri]: there [Nick McGowan]: know so it’s funny i have conversationsat times i’m like well is that person
[Nick McGowan]: being logical with you or they’re beingcrazy like they’re
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: fucking being see like well how doyou deal with crazy it’s crazy okay
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: got it and you know thinking abouteven on yourself when you think about that
[Nick McGowan]: if you’re in a spot where you’relike i want to get out of this
[Nick McGowan]: thing or i want to do thisnow in your case where you you let
[Nick McGowan]: go or is that something where youliterally had to shift yourself out of it
[Nick McGowan]: like i have to pull myself outof this thing or it’s all going to
[Nick McGowan]: suck an end [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah no it was at that pointi was already mentally out i was calling
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: out of work i was leaving thejob site early i was showing up late
[Kevin Palmieri]: i was already mentally out and whathappened was i was working a job so
[Kevin Palmieri]: the vast majority of the work thatwe did was on the road so i
[Kevin Palmieri]: lived on the road the year imade the most money i lived on the
[Kevin Palmieri]: road for ten months every single weeki lived in hotels after that year r
[Kevin Palmieri]: we were doing a job close towhere i lived so i was able to
[Kevin Palmieri]: compute and i remember i called mycompany nd i said hey you don’t know
[Kevin Palmieri]: this yet i don’t know how youmess this up but we’re not working second
[Kevin Palmieri]: shift on this job we’re working firstship and i can’t do that because i
[Kevin Palmieri]: have prior commitments a k the podcastand i was told
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i’ll be working second shift and theyended up calling me back and saying like
[Kevin Palmieri]: we’re going to have a problem ifyou don’t if you don’t work this shift
[Kevin Palmieri]: and i said i don’t care likewhatever problem we’re on to have we’re going
[Kevin Palmieri]: to have i’m not coming i havepodcast stuff to do and i’m going to
[Kevin Palmieri]: do that and whatever wherever the chipsfall they fall and then they message
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: me later that day or the nextday and they said hey do you think
[Kevin Palmieri]: we should part ways and i saidyeah i don’t think this is going to
[Kevin Palmieri]: work i it’s interesting how when yourpriority shift everything else shifts like the
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: way you’ll the way you’ll accept beingtreated shifts the level of yourself worth and
[Kevin Palmieri]: how much you value your own timewill shift you don’t want to get jerked
[Kevin Palmieri]: around so for me it was verymuch a grow up moment of i do
[Kevin Palmieri]: not want to do this for somebodyelse for the rest of my life like
[Kevin Palmieri]: the fact that [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i have something very important to doand i can’t do it because you messed
[Kevin Palmieri]: up that’s not fair [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i may never get this opportunity againthat i may never get this opportunity again
[Kevin Palmieri]: so what that was was we wereworking out with one of our friends she
[Kevin Palmieri]: her name is catherine as he’s verybig on instagram an we went to the
[Kevin Palmieri]: gym with her we later interviewed herand that was our biggest episode at the
[Kevin Palmieri]: time that [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: was the biggest episode we had forthe first couple of years if we didn’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: go to the gym and then endup interviewing her i can tell you with
[Kevin Palmieri]: certainty we wouldn’t be exactly where weare today for sure puntrepercent
[Nick McGowan]: wow wow you wouldn’t have had thathad you not gone through all the stuff
[Nick McGowan]: that you had gone through [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but that takes you knowing inside whenthings are no longer acceptable
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: now like i feel like you getto a point where you’re like oh that’s
[Nick McGowan]: that point where this is no longerhappening this is no longer allowed
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: and in being able to make thatshift so that’s huge man especially being able
[Nick McGowan]: to look back at that stuff [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: now when you think about the let’stake those couple years where you’re going through
[Nick McGowan]: like you know that you’re doing thething and you feel like you’re doing the
[Nick McGowan]: right things but [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: you’ve got you know p s thatyou’re driving and some
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: ship that’s going [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: on and just how do you managein those moments now and look i need
[Nick McGowan]: to just keep going and keep doingthese things but did i make the right
[Nick McGowan]: decision [Kevin Palmieri]: i tried to lean on the peoplearound me i’m very blessed because my business
[Kevin Palmieri]: partner is just one of the mostintelligent human beings ever he’s just a genius
[Kevin Palmieri]: and he he understands everything is goingto work out because he reversed engine is
[Kevin Palmieri]: everything i didn’t know that at thetime i didn’t understand that
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: but [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i remember i i just talked topeople i have i had very very good
[Kevin Palmieri]: humans around me the two people thati was closest to were both entrepreneurs they
[Kevin Palmieri]: both understood i was living with mybest friend who is becoming a real estate
[Kevin Palmieri]: investor so i literally helped flipped hishis first house together like we did it
[Kevin Palmieri]: where we lived so there was alot of comradery
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Kevin Palmieri]: with the people i was around becausewe understood what each other was going through
[Kevin Palmieri]: that really was the biggest thing meand honestly it really was it was the
[Kevin Palmieri]: belief that ultimately no matter what iwent through would be worth it it was
[Kevin Palmieri]: the belief that [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: we’re going to figure this out eventuallyand when we do figured out none of
[Kevin Palmieri]: this other ship’s really going to matterlike i’ll be able
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: to pay my debts that’s not abig deal just survive i’ll be able to
[Kevin Palmieri]: find a new place to live likewhatever just survive i’ll be able to get
[Kevin Palmieri]: a new car don’t worry about itjust survive so i think for me i
[Kevin Palmieri]: always i don’t know if i sawa light at the end of the tunnel
[Kevin Palmieri]: i think i wanted there to beone but i think i
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: was always aimed at that and isaid look i i just have to keep
[Kevin Palmieri]: going and i’ll also say this tooand i don’t mean any ego with this
[Kevin Palmieri]: but i’m just pretty good at sufferingi’m just my ability to suffer is pretty
[Kevin Palmieri]: high just based on i was abody builder you know i’ve been in the
[Kevin Palmieri]: gym my whole life grappling my tiethat kind of stuff like you’re going to
[Kevin Palmieri]: suffer quite often when you’re putting yourself [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: in those physical [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: situations so i have a pretty highthrow hold for pain which if i didn’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: i would have quite a long timeago
[Nick McGowan]: where do you think that comes fromis that an innate thing or
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: were you kind of raised in that [Kevin Palmieri]: what i what i lacked in skilland size i made up for in durability
[Kevin Palmieri]: and resilience i was a really goodbaseball player but one of the reasons i
[Kevin Palmieri]: was good is because was reckless iwould i remember in one of the games
[Kevin Palmieri]: i did a front flip over thecatcher because he was holding the ball and
[Kevin Palmieri]: i did a front flip over andi landed
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: on my head on the plate andi was safe but that’s
[Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: that’s one of the things that [Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: i had other people just weren’t willingto do when i when i did something
[Kevin Palmieri]: i did it full out the other [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: thing is i wanted to be wheni was younger i wanted to wrestle in
[Kevin Palmieri]: the w w e w w fthe time
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: and my cousin and i used toput on pretend matches and he i remember
[Kevin Palmieri]: he used to hit me in thehead with a legitimate metal folding chair not
[Kevin Palmieri]: like [Nick McGowan]: oh [Kevin Palmieri]: one of those light weight ones oneof those heavy ones he used
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: to throw me into the thorn busheshe beat the hell out of me with
[Kevin Palmieri]: a whip ball bat one time andthere’s a sick part of me that kind
[Kevin Palmieri]: of liked it was like this isn’tthat bad i can i can handle it
[Kevin Palmieri]: so you know after that i wantedto be a stunt man and then i
[Kevin Palmieri]: wanted to fight professionally with mixed martialart so i think for me it’s just
[Kevin Palmieri]: like it’s not that bad you knowit’s if there is a if there is
[Kevin Palmieri]: an end to it it’s not thatbig of a deal you have tattoos
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: like when i sat down to getthis done i was like oh my god
[Kevin Palmieri]: i have to sit for another fiethe hour is no
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: way am i going to make thisbut
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: as you get closer to the endit gets a little bit easier so yeah
[Kevin Palmieri]: i think for me what i lackedin skill i could get through with just
[Kevin Palmieri]: pure resilience end and that’s really that’sreally served me later in life even that
[Kevin Palmieri]: job i had we would i rememberwe would wake up it two in the
[Kevin Palmieri]: morning we would drive five hours toa job site and then i’d work an
[Kevin Palmieri]: eight hour day and then i’d goto the gym and that was like normal
[Kevin Palmieri]: that wasn’t pat on the back oa job that was like that’s what you
[Kevin Palmieri]: do you know that [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: was just kind of kind of normalso i think a lot of that i’ve
[Kevin Palmieri]: adopted till today and and that’s justa great message for everybody out there of
[Kevin Palmieri]: the fact that you might be doingsomething right now that you absolutely hate but
[Kevin Palmieri]: you might be putting things away forlater right you might putting money
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: in the bank for skills that youmight need later and you never know until
[Kevin Palmieri]: you reflect but it’s possible it’s verypossible that’s happening for you too
[Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s a huge point stepping stonesyou know
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: some people get really really really upsetwith things that are happening and
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: it could be easy to be likekind of a fly on a wall and
[Nick McGowan]: be like yes but from my perspectivei can see these things but when you’re
[Nick McGowan]: and it’s difficult to see that [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but being the understanding of all rightmaybe this is just kind of a stepping
[Nick McGowan]: stone even just changing that perspective abit and going on well with the sort
[Nick McGowan]: of questions do i ask then [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: how do i look at this thinga little differently so from you kind of
[Nick McGowan]: hitting all these different stepping stones whatled you to the podcast
[Kevin Palmieri]: mostly accidental i was interviewed so mybusiness partner had a youtube show and he
[Kevin Palmieri]: said hey i want to interview youabout fitness and mind set and i was
[Kevin Palmieri]: like i don’t know that means idon’t kno wha the el were
[Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: gong to talk about i have noidea what i’m doing but yeah whatever and
[Kevin Palmieri]: he interviewed me for an hour anda half and then when we got to
[Kevin Palmieri]: the end of the interview i saidto one of my other buddies i said
[Kevin Palmieri]: imagine if you could do that ora living and he said well there’s there’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: people that can and i did abunch of research on what equipment i needed
[Kevin Palmieri]: and all that and then right beforethat had i had really started to hate
[Kevin Palmieri]: my job so it was very [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: much i found a new purpose withthe understanding that okay money is not the
[Kevin Palmieri]: issue i feel like my awareness hasbeen were low and if my awareness was
[Kevin Palmieri]: higher i would be happier okay coolwhat
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: does that mean and then i sawthe opportunity to create a vehicle with a
[Kevin Palmieri]: podcast and then i created my firstpodcast which evolved today is it was hyper
[Kevin Palmieri]: conscious it was called the hyper consciouspodcast acutely aware understanding everything that it just
[Kevin Palmieri]: came in a very very aligned opportunistictime for me so yeah i was interviewed
[Kevin Palmieri]: i said imagine if you could dothat for a living somebody said you could
[Kevin Palmieri]: and then i went and bought allthe equipment and i was off to the
[Kevin Palmieri]: races shortly thereafter [Nick McGowan]: love that ship where just like and [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: here we [Kevin Palmieri]: uh [Nick McGowan]: are and it just [Kevin Palmieri]: uh [Nick McGowan]: works yeah it’s interesting how that stuffworks because i hear different people at times
[Nick McGowan]: that are like me and i thoughtof the idea of doing a podcast but
[Nick McGowan]: i don’t know and then the timeand they’re like
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: i want to do it specifically aboutthis thing i want to talk about this
[Nick McGowan]: thing and there’s just passion in itand i think that’s kind of a message
[Nick McGowan]: for people that are even in thatspot in a job where they’re like fucking
[Nick McGowan]: hate this think about you hate whatyou enjoy and then start to do a
[Nick McGowan]: little bit of that and that’s kindof the message that i’m getting from you
[Nick McGowan]: to it like if you’re working theforty hours you work another five doing something
[Nick McGowan]: else that you want to do [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: so when you were first working thiswas that one of those things where you
[Nick McGowan]: thought maybe i can do this kindof alongside and hate this a little less
[Nick McGowan]: or you’re just like and here wego
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: fuck that um out [Kevin Palmieri]: i if i didn’t have that suicidalmoment i probably would have kept doing both
[Kevin Palmieri]: and honestly i probably would have thepodcast probably would have died really
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: i tried to do both but it’svery hard it’s very hard when it doesn’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: seem like it matters in the beginningbecause nobody’s listening
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: you’re not getting any love you don’tknow what the hell you’re doing so yeah
[Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t think i was aware ofwhat was actually going to happen and i
[Kevin Palmieri]: also didn’t have high enough awareness tounderstand that you could actually be successful with
[Kevin Palmieri]: a podcast when i started this therewas no goals of making money i had
[Kevin Palmieri]: no i had no idea how tothere was no plan for that i just
[Kevin Palmieri]: wanted to have deep conversations with deeppeople that’s how it started for me and
[Kevin Palmieri]: i edit the show on the roadand all that but no i definitely i
[Kevin Palmieri]: probably would have done it for likea year and then i probably would have
[Kevin Palmieri]: called it quits because i wouldn’t havegotten any results and said okay that was
[Kevin Palmieri]: that was a fun try [Nick McGowan]: sure that’s that’s not how your personalityis you
[Kevin Palmieri]: you’d be [Nick McGowan]: ah [Kevin Palmieri]: surprised Nick i don’t a lot ofthis personality is new to me the i’m
[Kevin Palmieri]: not a natural high achiever that’s justnot that’s not who i was i’m a
[Kevin Palmieri]: really hard worker i’ll grind my faceoff but i’m not a visionary i’m not
[Kevin Palmieri]: somebody who can see how things willplay out into the future and belie
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: it or not i’m not as ambitiousas i think people would guess a lot
[Kevin Palmieri]: of its adopted over the last fiveyears this isn’t i’ve changed more in the
[Kevin Palmieri]: last five years than i did inthe first twenty eight for sure for sure
[Kevin Palmieri]: so [Nick McGowan]: that’s cool [Kevin Palmieri]: i think people would probably be surprised [Nick McGowan]: you had also touched on the peoplethat are around you so
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: if you have chitty people around you [Kevin Palmieri]: true [Nick McGowan]: then probably wouldn’t be thinking this way [Kevin Palmieri]: it’s [Nick McGowan]: if [Kevin Palmieri]: true [Nick McGowan]: you hadn’t gone through all these thingsbut i think it also really gets back
[Nick McGowan]: to that a deep passion to justsay well fuck you guys and out work
[Nick McGowan]: you because [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: i at least know i can dothat
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and i can figure this thing outand i’m not going to let myself stop
[Nick McGowan]: from that [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but i want to touch on thesuicide stuff so
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: when you’re in moment not even thesuicidal moment but the moments that were
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: hovering around it for the weeks kindof leading up to it and all that
[Nick McGowan]: sort of stuff i feel like that’sone of those pieces that people are aware
[Nick McGowan]: of but they don’t really talk aboutit almost like when you think about lacelle
[Nick McGowan]: you understand there’s the nucleus but youdon’t think about all the stuff that’s around
[Nick McGowan]: it that’s leading up to it andthat’s really where the signs are and the
[Nick McGowan]: stuff that’s happening so i know thatit can be a break through like it
[Nick McGowan]: was for you like was [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: for me but some people it’s notso leading up to that what were those
[Nick McGowan]: sort of things looking kind of likefrom a third party perspective could you see
[Nick McGowan]: that was outside of that that youwould be mindful of at this point
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah it’s it’s interesting because that wasn’tthat wasn’t the first time i had those
[Kevin Palmieri]: thoughts that was just the [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: first est [Nick McGowan]: ever [Kevin Palmieri]: those [Nick McGowan]: is [Kevin Palmieri]: thoughts had ever had ever gotten iremember
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i was home we lived in bostonit was at the time it was my
[Kevin Palmieri]: girl friend myself and we lived withanother couple and we had this really nice
[Kevin Palmieri]: apartment there was three stories we hadthe loft upstairs and one day i was
[Kevin Palmieri]: home alone everybody else was at workand i was just playing call of duty
[Kevin Palmieri]: on the bed and i had thismoment where i put the clicker down and
[Kevin Palmieri]: i just remember thinking if this iswhat life is i don’t want to do
[Kevin Palmieri]: it everything is gray [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: and i’m depressed and i’m not excitedabout anything and i’m anxious all the time
[Kevin Palmieri]: and if this is what the nextseventy eighty ninety years of my life are
[Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t i don’t want to dothis this is brutal sucks so my girl
[Kevin Palmieri]: friend came home that night and iexpressed that to her vulnerably and she she
[Kevin Palmieri]: recommended i go to a therapist andi was like no way i like no
[Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t need a therapist i’m fineeverything is fine and eventually i did i
[Kevin Palmieri]: went i went to a therapist indowntown boston and i remember walking up this
[Kevin Palmieri]: spiral staircase in this old building creakingand i’m thinking i’m going to cry i
[Kevin Palmieri]: don’t want to answer these questions isgonna be
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: brutal [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: and it was honestly one of thebest experiences of my life because what happened
[Kevin Palmieri]: i learned more about myself i leftthere
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: with a higher awareness that i walkedin with and when you when you’re more
[Kevin Palmieri]: aware you have more opportunity to makechanges so when i when that happened i
[Kevin Palmieri]: thought i was healed because i wentto therapy five or six times and i
[Kevin Palmieri]: was like i’m good i know everythingnow
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i know all about myself we’re goodand i think what happened was i was
[Kevin Palmieri]: so burnt out i was under [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: slept i was eating like garbage myfitness was on point because i was working
[Kevin Palmieri]: out a lot but i don’t thinki understood physiologically how much damage i was
[Kevin Palmieri]: doing to my body and then thatwas just taking a toll on my mental
[Kevin Palmieri]: health so i [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: probably would have said keve you’re livinglike a rock star but you don’t have
[Kevin Palmieri]: any of the rock star benefits likeyou need to sleep you can’t stay up
[Kevin Palmieri]: for thirty thirty five hours in arow like that’s bad that’s very detrimental and
[Kevin Palmieri]: i was doing that often so ithink i probably would have tried to get
[Kevin Palmieri]: to the root of your life styleis very toxic and that’s not helping your
[Kevin Palmieri]: mental [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: health i think that would have beenan interesting thing to to understand and recognize
[Kevin Palmieri]: earlier [Nick McGowan]: now that you recognize it and youunderstand it what does what does your lifestyle
[Nick McGowan]: look like now compared to what itlooked like before
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah i have i have a nonnegotiable amount of r n r so i
[Kevin Palmieri]: try to do i guess the goalis eighty per cent on twenty per cent
[Kevin Palmieri]: off so if you figure if youare sleeping eight hours a day then that
[Kevin Palmieri]: leaves sixteen hours for you to doactivities so ten percent of that would be
[Kevin Palmieri]: one point six hours twenty percent ofthat would be three point two hours so
[Kevin Palmieri]: three point two hours of and anight i don’t get that probably at like
[Kevin Palmieri]: ninety ten right now so i getlike an hour of r and r every
[Kevin Palmieri]: night where i get up it wheni’m on i get up at four thirty
[Kevin Palmieri]: at the gym by five i’m homeby six thirty in the office by seven
[Kevin Palmieri]: and then seven to six seven toseven most days but then after that it’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: just my phone stays in the officei don’t bring my phone into the bedroom
[Kevin Palmieri]: i spend time with my wife andwe watch something we eat in bed we
[Kevin Palmieri]: have deep deep talks so it’s alot it’s a lot output but and this
[Kevin Palmieri]: is this is important for everybody myfavorite question to ask is how aligned is
[Kevin Palmieri]: your grind the [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: the being on a bunch of podcaststhan doing seven a week and being on
[Kevin Palmieri]: fifteen shows a week two yeah it’sa challenge one it’s easier than it’s ever
[Kevin Palmieri]: been two i just have so manyreps in this arena that it takes less
[Kevin Palmieri]: of my conscious energy and effort thanit would somebody who’s
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: never done it so my grind isthe most aligned it’s ever been and that’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: one of the reasons weregetting the resultswere getting but it’s also one of the
[Kevin Palmieri]: reasons it’s sustainable too so that’s importantto note
[Nick McGowan]: my that’s a big thing right therethe alignment
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: of your grinding and [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: how you go about it i thinkto the people that i talked to that
[Nick McGowan]: are like all right this is thefirst show or this i can show that
[Nick McGowan]: i’m doing i’m a little nervous andfrom the host perspective i got a kind
[Nick McGowan]: of love on them like you’re fineeverything is gonna
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: be great you’re going to be greatthis is wonderful will go through stuff and
[Nick McGowan]: there are people like yourself that arelike you could probably be sleeping right now
[Kevin Palmieri]: ah [Nick McGowan]: and we wouldn’t really know like [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: you would just be having these conversationsbut meanwhile you just
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: completely passed out [Kevin Palmieri]: h [Nick McGowan]: just because you’ve done [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: it so many times like when youthink about driving to the store like you
[Nick McGowan]: don’t think about driving to the storejust magically taking your groceries
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: out back to the car and you’relike oh should have been here for forty
[Nick McGowan]: five minutes [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: what [Kevin Palmieri]: a lot of its subconscious [Nick McGowan]: the heck [Kevin Palmieri]: right when you practice [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: something fifteen hundred times the just thepathways are just connected i don’t
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: i usually don’t know what i’m goingto say i don’t really know i don’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t know the questions are usuallydon’t look i don’t even look
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t want to know because ifi know the questions i’m i’m going to
[Kevin Palmieri]: manufacture answers i want to do iti want to figure it out live so
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah it’s interesting but the other thingas i have a very high standard for
[Kevin Palmieri]: myself that’s that’s [Nick McGowan]: h [Kevin Palmieri]: an interesting thing [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: to wear i don’t care if somebodyelse thinks my two is at ten i
[Kevin Palmieri]: know my two is a two andi want to make sure that i’m i
[Kevin Palmieri]: try to over deliver that’s always mygoal
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: people ask all the time i don’tknow if you know anything about my show
[Kevin Palmieri]: yes i try to do research itry to listen to an episode i try
[Kevin Palmieri]: to just do more than the thebear minimum i don’t want to show up
[Kevin Palmieri]: with a bare [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: minimum [Nick McGowan]: do you feel like not looking atquestions at all is potentially that bare minimum
[Nick McGowan]: or that somebody would see it asa bare minimum so do you go ahead
[Nick McGowan]: of that because you’re [Kevin Palmieri]: no [Nick McGowan]: like don’t want to look at yourquestions
[Kevin Palmieri]: no for me it’s like [Nick McGowan]: ah [Kevin Palmieri]: this is this is the thing mostpeople i know you’re not sending those questions
[Kevin Palmieri]: for me i know you’re sending themfor yourself so like that’s fine if you
[Kevin Palmieri]: want to send them to me andthose are the question our gonna use awesome
[Kevin Palmieri]: it doesn’t do me [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: any benefit to know because i wouldrather say honestly Nick i don’t think i
[Kevin Palmieri]: have a good answer to that ratherthan like research okay what are the five
[Kevin Palmieri]: things [Nick McGowan]: oh [Kevin Palmieri]: that you should be doing to buildmomentum
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i don’t [Nick McGowan]: i think regurgitated [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah i don’t if i don’t knowthe answer it’s my job to say honestly
[Kevin Palmieri]: that’s not my my area of expertiselike i don’t know that i can add
[Kevin Palmieri]: that much value there so i’d ratherjust be real that’s i think
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: and the other thing too is youcan only prepare and obviously you should prepare
[Kevin Palmieri]: and focus on preparation but i wantto make sure this is who i am
[Kevin Palmieri]: more than [Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: what i do and i think theidentity of yeah i’m just going to show
[Kevin Palmieri]: up and i know i’m gonna beas ready as i can worst case scenario
[Kevin Palmieri]: goes horribly wrong i learn best casescenario
[Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: hopefully i’ll [Nick McGowan]: uh [Kevin Palmieri]: impress myself i think it’s a goodapproach especially this many resin
[Nick McGowan]: yea we we both agree on that [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: i kind of think of [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: it often as look i have onething i can fall back on or a
[Nick McGowan]: couple of things i can fall backon no matter what worst case scenario somebody
[Nick McGowan]: looks at me go you’re complete fuckingass hole
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: i know that i’m not a completefucking ass hole of a partial so
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: even in that case i’m totally fine [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: you know and just being able togo into it and go cool what are
[Nick McGowan]: we doing i was having conversation witha podcast host recently who’s talking about how
[Nick McGowan]: they’ll get on shows and people willexpect that they have the answers to the
[Nick McGowan]: questions that they sent them they’re likei sent you these questions these are the
[Nick McGowan]: exact things and they’ll go one byone by one where they’re like question one
[Nick McGowan]: Kevin and oh Kevin that’s crazy shipabout your family
[Kevin Palmieri]: yah [Nick McGowan]: well question [Kevin Palmieri]: uh [Nick McGowan]: two you’re like what i just toldyou crazy ship about
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: my family how are you not goingto play jazz with that
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and were you kind of in thatspot when you first started where you like
[Nick McGowan]: i have to kind of know whatthings are specifically going to be or were
[Nick McGowan]: you just right off the bat you’relike fun it we’ll figure it out
[Kevin Palmieri]: no i was definitely the first [Nick McGowan]: okay [Kevin Palmieri]: i was very regimented i did twohours of research per guest we had on
[Kevin Palmieri]: it i always looked at it andagain it’s different because i had a co
[Kevin Palmieri]: host who his only thing was scratchinghis own curiosity that’s just the way he’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: built he has to ask questions thathe wants to know my job was always
[Kevin Palmieri]: to do iver value from the guestto the audience so i usually knew more
[Kevin Palmieri]: about the guest that anybody would haveknown that i knew but it was my
[Kevin Palmieri]: job to bring up value so iwould
[Nick McGowan]: got [Kevin Palmieri]: say [Nick McGowan]: it [Kevin Palmieri]: i was overly prep and [Nick McGowan]: h [Kevin Palmieri]: but this [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: is the problem with that and itell my clients this all the time i
[Kevin Palmieri]: don’t know how to explain this idon’t know how to visualize it i don’t
[Kevin Palmieri]: know how to get it to landyou got to remove the safety net whatever
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: that means to you practise it that’sthat’s why i want to show up and
[Kevin Palmieri]: not know because then at least ican be real and then worst case i
[Kevin Palmieri]: can just say honestly neck i don’tknow or hey can you repeat that again
[Kevin Palmieri]: i forgot what you said whatever [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: is that if that’s [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: the worst thing that happens then [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: then we’re totally good it’s way betterthan you so i
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Kevin Palmieri]: i think i realized later than iwish i did honestly that if you go
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: in with a safety net you’re almostafraid
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: to fall on the safety net youknow
[Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: it’s there but you’re [Nick McGowan]: m [Kevin Palmieri]: so afraid to make a mistake whereif you just say honestly let me remove
[Kevin Palmieri]: this safety net and just focus onbeing me everything else
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Kevin Palmieri]: kind of comes naturally that way [Nick McGowan]: what a great way to look atthat especially to be able to say like
[Nick McGowan]: who i don’t know [Kevin Palmieri]: right [Nick McGowan]: next question [Kevin Palmieri]: right [Nick McGowan]: or you know what’s the worst thinga lot of people will think and this
[Nick McGowan]: just kind of goes for almost likea metaphor for life in a sense where
[Nick McGowan]: they’ll think oh if i do thisor if i
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: do that or if i have thisconversation with my wife i have this or
[Nick McGowan]: that like they’re going to turn itinto some giant hairy scary monster and just
[Nick McGowan]: bite your fucking head off [Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: most times that’s not going to happen [Kevin Palmieri]: yep [Nick McGowan]: if it does and there’s an alieninvasion that’s a completely
[Kevin Palmieri]: oh [Nick McGowan]: different set of sucking problems [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and like your argument no longer mattersum
[Kevin Palmieri]: m [Nick McGowan]: man we’ve gotten into a lot ofstuff i want to mindful of your time
[Nick McGowan]: i appreciate you being on the showtoday
[Kevin Palmieri]: course [Nick McGowan]: what sort of advice would you giveto the audience that’s on their path towards
[Nick McGowan]: self mastery [Kevin Palmieri]: yeah this is one of my favoritethings in the world and i’m very i’m
[Kevin Palmieri]: very visual i guess i’m philosophical withcertain things but one thing that stuck with
[Kevin Palmieri]: me for the last five and ahalf six years your reality will become the
[Kevin Palmieri]: parts of your imagination that you holdon to and pour into the longest in
[Kevin Palmieri]: five years ten years you will bein a different place than you are today
[Kevin Palmieri]: i just want it to be theplace of your choosing and don’t forget that
[Kevin Palmieri]: the imagination is a powerful thing iwas just a kid from a small town
[Kevin Palmieri]: who wanted t have a podcast andi wanted to be my own boss and
[Kevin Palmieri]: that’s the thing that i focused onthat’s the thing that i poured into that’s
[Kevin Palmieri]: the thing that i prioritized and that’sthe only reason i am where i am
[Kevin Palmieri]: ay there was trust me there wasvery little luck involved much to my surprise
[Kevin Palmieri]: so make sure you’re focused on thethings that you want and not the things
[Kevin Palmieri]: that you don’t want the things thatyou desire not that that you’re afraid of
[Kevin Palmieri]: i think you’re you’re goin t bein for a different future if you can
[Kevin Palmieri]: focus on that [Nick McGowan]: awesome Kevin i appreciate you being onthank you for sharing your wisdom and hey
[Nick McGowan]: where can people find you and wherecan they connect with you
[Kevin Palmieri]: yeah so i always send people tothe podcast that’s where you’ll get to know
[Kevin Palmieri]: us at the deepest level next leveluniversity or on all the podcast platforms as
[Kevin Palmieri]: well as you tube and then ifyou want to reach out to me my
[Kevin Palmieri]: handle on instagram is at never quitkid i do all my own social media
[Kevin Palmieri]: so you will hear from me probablyan audio message or a video again i
[Kevin Palmieri]: want to i want to over deliverif i can
[Nick McGowan]: stuff again thank you so much forbeing on appreciate it
[Kevin Palmieri]: my pleasure brother
