Episode summary: Jason has endured a lot to get where he is today. He became injured after a motorcycle accident in his 20s. He suffered from a dislocated hip bad enough to cut off blood to the bones and cracked some of his vertebrates.
His doctor told him that with his hip being this damaged, he’s going to need a fusion, which may lead to multiple hip replacements due to his age. & if he was lucky enough not to need the hip replacement, he’ll suffer with arthritis and have to take medications for the rest of his life.
This accident lead to one of the biggest lessons in Jason’s life. He learned to never listen to anyone tell you what you can or cannot do.
Jason was persistent and did his own thing to help control his mind and tell his body what to do. But these lessons taught Jason that he not only does have control over his body, but he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. And you can too.

[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: face that he was [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: on before you are [Jason “Wojo”]: let’s [Nick McGowan]: but [Jason “Wojo”]: use that term [Nick McGowan]: we’ve been going [Jason “Wojo”]: let’s use that term [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: buddy loosely man i know you’re talking [Nick McGowan]: all [Jason “Wojo”]: about [Nick McGowan]: right [Jason “Wojo”]: the jokers [Nick McGowan]: fair enough yeah exactly we don’t needto say
[Jason “Wojo”]: yah [Nick McGowan]: anything about that person and when you’relistening you know who you are
[Jason “Wojo”]: that’s it [Nick McGowan]: well i know we were going backand forth or
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: at least i was going back andforth with your project manager assistant who’s great
[Nick McGowan]: we were just trying to figure outthe best time to be able to set
[Nick McGowan]: this thing up so really you shouldhave first
[Jason “Wojo”]: okay i’m going to [Nick McGowan]: but [Jason “Wojo”]: use that man i’ll take that [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i’ll [Nick McGowan]: you [Jason “Wojo”]: take [Nick McGowan]: should [Jason “Wojo”]: that [Nick McGowan]: and i’ll do the same thing wheni talk to
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: him too so hey i don’t wantto steal your thunder man i appreciate that
[Nick McGowan]: you’re here why don’t [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: o tell us what you do and [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: tell us one thing that most peopedon’t know about you it’s maybe a little
[Nick McGowan]: odd or bizarre [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah man so i [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: am the co of a company called [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: life air and we are where lifeand business coaching organization and we do events
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: and we have students and all theother kinds of things
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: i didn’t it’s a crazy story howi actually ever ended up being there because
[Jason “Wojo”]: i was trained as a scientist andone thing
[Nick McGowan]: kay [Jason “Wojo”]: that i’d [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: say most people don’t know about me [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: well there’s two here and you canyou can
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: tell me which one of these ismore shocking one is
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: i’m apparently a glutton for punishment becausewhen i was in school i was in
[Jason “Wojo”]: college to stretch my my comfort zonei took a hip
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: hip hop dance [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: class and i was not only theonly male in that class but i was
[Jason “Wojo”]: also the only male that was probablyabout
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: fifteen to twenty years older than everyother female in there
[Nick McGowan]: yah [Jason “Wojo”]: and so i was the creepy oldguy that is that was a scarring memory
[Jason “Wojo”]: myself and [Nick McGowan]: h [Jason “Wojo”]: and probably every female in that classas well
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: and had the other thing that [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: that not a lot of people knowaside from a handful of people is that
[Jason “Wojo”]: i was [Nick McGowan]: okay [Jason “Wojo”]: in is a petty bad motorcycle accidentin two thousand in nineteen ninety nine and
[Jason “Wojo”]: i was told there [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: is a really really big chance iwas
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: never going to walk again and thatwas that was a crazy
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: scary moment for me to but actuallyi don’t i don’t really talk about it
[Jason “Wojo”]: much because it feels like like alifetime ago actually now
[Nick McGowan]: sure yeah i bet man i gota new a car accident about ten years
[Nick McGowan]: ago maybe twelve [Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: years ago something [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: like that but i think there’s acertain point where you had something tragic like
[Nick McGowan]: that that it happened kind of shiftedyour life and you’re like oh my god
[Nick McGowan]: so much life [Jason “Wojo”]: it [Nick McGowan]: has [Jason “Wojo”]: totally [Nick McGowan]: happened [Jason “Wojo”]: does [Nick McGowan]: since then yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: it totally [Nick McGowan]: what [Jason “Wojo”]: does [Nick McGowan]: a what a wild thing so what [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: happened what was the situation with theaccident
[Jason “Wojo”]: and so i was i was iwas on a back country road on my
[Jason “Wojo”]: motor cycle and an s u von coming in the other lane cut their
[Jason “Wojo”]: corner short and ran [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: me off the road and i dislocatedmy hip had a couple cracked
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: vertebra um and i remember so iwas in the hospital for a week and
[Jason “Wojo”]: i go into the go in tothe doctor and he tells me that you
[Jason “Wojo”]: know it’s a really severe dislocation andthere’s something something called a vascular in the
[Jason “Wojo”]: crocus or a v n which basicallymeans like the
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: blood supplied to your joint was cutoff and therefore the bone that is a
[Jason “Wojo”]: is you know supplied by that bloodflow will eventually die and he’s like so
[Nick McGowan]: wow [Jason “Wojo”]: our options are [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: he said you know you know youmight be all right for a little
[Nick McGowan]: okay [Jason “Wojo”]: while here but you know pretty soonthere’s a really good chance th you’re gonna
[Jason “Wojo”]: need to hip fusion because your youngguy hip replacement isn’t really designed for you
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: because he don’t last that long even [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: if we don’t fuse it you willabsolutely need hip replacement and the problem with
[Jason “Wojo”]: that is because you know they’re notdesigned for a long term you’re you’re probably
[Jason “Wojo”]: gonna have to go through two orthree of those during your lifetime and he’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: like an if that doesn’t happen ifyou’re like you know the one in a
[Jason “Wojo”]: million [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you will be you’re going to havesevere
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: severe rthritis setting in in the nextcouple of years and you’re gonna e on
[Jason “Wojo”]: medication the rest of your life forthis which now there’s long term effects of
[Jason “Wojo”]: those medications and you could [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: have a host of other issues dude [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: i was you know this was ninetynine so i was
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: you know twenty i was i wasborn so
[Nick McGowan]: h [Jason “Wojo”]: let’s see i was twenty [Nick McGowan]: yah [Jason “Wojo”]: early late twenties and to hear thatyou know when you’re when you’re an active
[Jason “Wojo”]: person you’re you’re an athlete and yourun around an you all the stuff like
[Jason “Wojo”]: dude it’s like soul crushing [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i remember many nights spent [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: just sobbing like this can’t happen andand i just i just said
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: no i’m going to be i’m notgonna be the one million im gna be
[Jason “Wojo”]: the one i’m not gonna have anyissues like and
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: i refused to kind of accept thatdiagnosis and and you know with god’s blessing
[Jason “Wojo”]: to this point haven’t had any issuesdude now it was a long road back
[Jason “Wojo”]: we [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: can talk about that but like youknow
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: it it was that was just [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i mean that’s when it hit mefor the first time in my life to
[Jason “Wojo”]: like never let anybody tell you likewhat you can do or what your body
[Jason “Wojo”]: is going to do or you know [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: like [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: i don’t care if they’re an expertman i don’t i don’t care what their
[Jason “Wojo”]: credentials are like don’t do that youknow because and
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you see people that do that rightlike they let somebody else tell them what
[Jason “Wojo”]: it’s goin to be like and theyactually follow it nd they believe it
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s devastating [Nick McGowan]: yeah yeah especially could you hear differentstories at different times about somebody that beat
[Nick McGowan]: cancer and [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: they just didn’t believe what the doctorswere saying doctors are like you’ve got x
[Nick McGowan]: amount of time they’re like well ichanged this change that told them the funk
[Nick McGowan]: off and just continued on with life [Jason “Wojo”]: right [Nick McGowan]: for most people they’re like well we’vebeen
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: told that we need to do thisthing we’ve been told this it’s almost like
[Nick McGowan]: how we’ve been conditioned you go tothe doctors you
[Jason “Wojo”]: ye [Nick McGowan]: believe them and there are other peoplethat are like i’m ve’re goin to go
[Nick McGowan]: to the doctor it’s like i cansee your limb is about to fall off
[Nick McGowan]: you [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: need to go talk [Jason “Wojo”]: maybe [Nick McGowan]: to an [Jason “Wojo”]: you [Nick McGowan]: adult [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: yeah please please for your fucking self [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: but for you to [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: not have that that [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: shows a lot of mental fortitude nowwere you that type when you were younger
[Nick McGowan]: at that age to go like ego [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: driven or were you actually listening andcoachable [Jason “Wojo”]: you know that that’s hard to answeri’m not i remember the fear of having
[Jason “Wojo”]: my entire life changed i think iswhat i don’t know if listen i don’t
[Jason “Wojo”]: know [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: if it was denial like i don’tknow if it was like
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: because i’m not i’m [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: not like an inner rebel [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: i’m not like i on’t have aproblem
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: with like authority in in my lifene learning like that but like i just
[Jason “Wojo”]: was like no screw that in noway and
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: so i am and i don’t imean i was an athlete as a kid
[Jason “Wojo”]: but i wouldn’t i would never say [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i was like necessarily mentally tough likei’ve always been attracted
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: to i have like extreme sports [Nick McGowan]: it [Jason “Wojo”]: for instance and maybe that maybe there’ssome sort of relationship there between like flirting
[Jason “Wojo”]: with [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: with injury and danger um and i’mnot sure what’s there like i don’t know
[Jason “Wojo”]: why that’s there i just [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: i just found i always seem tobe attracted to things that i can kill
[Jason “Wojo”]: myself at for some reason um but [Nick McGowan]: death wish you know that could bethe
[Jason “Wojo”]: i know [Nick McGowan]: opposite [Jason “Wojo”]: i don’t [Nick McGowan]: of the [Jason “Wojo”]: i [Nick McGowan]: scale [Jason “Wojo”]: don’t know what [Nick McGowan]: you [Jason “Wojo”]: that [Nick McGowan]: know [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah i don’t know what that’s frombut like i do remember like i’ve always
[Jason “Wojo”]: i’ve always had a m a relationshiplike mentally with with persistence like that’s one
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: thing that that i’ve always been [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: i’d say gifted with really beaus idon’t know where it came from but like
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: and so maybe like that challenge wassomething
[Nick McGowan]: work [Jason “Wojo”]: that for me was like hey youknow i’m going to just give everything to
[Jason “Wojo”]: this but then you know the otherside of that that i struggled with was
[Jason “Wojo”]: like well what if i’m wrong likewhat if i put in
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: all this effort and i still getthat’s scary too right because you don’t want
[Nick McGowan]: sure [Jason “Wojo”]: to fail after putting up so mucheffort but i remember like so i was
[Jason “Wojo”]: still on crutches and i would iwould there was a lake where where i
[Jason “Wojo”]: lived and i would i would hobbleout on the end of the dock and
[Jason “Wojo”]: i would let myself fall and icouldn’t walk so i’d fall in the water
[Jason “Wojo”]: and with one arm and two legsi’d kind of just like like flip flop
[Jason “Wojo”]: fish around like for like you knowit at first it was like for like
[Jason “Wojo”]: ten feet before i was like exhaustedin pain but
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: like literally man like every day iwould go back do that and every day
[Jason “Wojo”]: it was like [Nick McGowan]: wow [Jason “Wojo”]: two feet further or five feet furtherand so like i don’t know i just
[Jason “Wojo”]: developed this like the screw you attitudeto my body really i’m like no you’re
[Jason “Wojo”]: going [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: to do what i’m going to ellyou to do i don’t care if it
[Jason “Wojo”]: hurts i don’t care like if you’regonna you’re going to heal and it took
[Jason “Wojo”]: a while but man but like thatafter gosh and i remember and the doctor
[Jason “Wojo”]: still like when i went back forcheck up when i was already making progress
[Jason “Wojo”]: es like [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: well you know i’m just telling youdon’t get your hopes up like you know
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah you’re [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: you’re doing really well right now butlike i’m telling you i want and i’m
[Jason “Wojo”]: not saying his being negative but i’mjust want to prepare you you know it’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: gonna be hit fusion and hip replacementor debilitating
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: arthritis and and i dude don’t knowhow this guy got his license actually lie
[Jason “Wojo”]: because you don’t tell that [Nick McGowan]: kay [Jason “Wojo”]: to somebody [Nick McGowan]: mark wall mark [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah dude yeah like you don’t saythat
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: to somebody and so [Nick McGowan]: bedside manner [Jason “Wojo”]: and yeah you’re you’re you’re playing withpeople’s lives like
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: you really [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: are like it’s not you’re not justthere for medicine and this is for anybody
[Jason “Wojo”]: like i think any of [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: us who have a position of potential [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: influence have to look at like arewe are we voting for people are we
[Jason “Wojo”]: charing for them are we are wetrying to help them you know um a
[Jason “Wojo”]: positive way or we are we youknow maybe even accidentally pulling him down a
[Jason “Wojo”]: little bit and this guy [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: maybe i want to i want toforgive him that he didn’t know better but
[Jason “Wojo”]: at the same [Nick McGowan]: sure [Jason “Wojo”]: time i was like you now youknow f you dude and like um that
[Jason “Wojo”]: was that was a pivotal moment forme because it really did it did make
[Jason “Wojo”]: a difference to me mentally [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: like that i’m not going to letanybody say you know what i can i
[Jason “Wojo”]: can’t [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: do [Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s interesting because [Jason “Wojo”]: okay [Nick McGowan]: it’s not just childhood situation [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: you know where somebody says something andthen that stays with you for the rest
[Nick McGowan]: of your life it could be inyour twenties thirties or even later where somebody
[Nick McGowan]: like a doctor says something and peoplewill go well i got to take it
[Nick McGowan]: as gospel [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: because that’s what we’ve been taught todo and that’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: yah [Nick McGowan]: not the case [Jason “Wojo”]: h [Nick McGowan]: now i think of different times andi joke with people like different meetings were
[Nick McGowan]: somebody’s couple minutes late totally good mani think of it like a doctor’s office
[Nick McGowan]: if one person’s late the next person’slate the next ten people are late and
[Nick McGowan]: by the end of it they haveto cancel appointments just how it goes so
[Nick McGowan]: then i think of those people beingin a tough spot just like with all
[Nick McGowan]: the covid stuff where they were completelyoverwhelmed and being like all right check this
[Nick McGowan]: box move these people out they’re dyingjust get them out of here and they’re
[Nick McGowan]: just trying to check off boxes where [Jason “Wojo”]: hm [Nick McGowan]: he don’t even think about those sortof ings because here just saying it based
[Nick McGowan]: on patterns that they’ve created and thatthey know they’re already twenty minutes late for
[Nick McGowan]: the next appointment so with them just [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: flippantly saying something and you’re like whatwhat
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: do you mean our [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s [Nick McGowan]: like [Jason “Wojo”]: like life [Nick McGowan]: you’re just [Jason “Wojo”]: altering [Nick McGowan]: going to and [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: like a couple of hours [Jason “Wojo”]: right [Nick McGowan]: yeah exactly [Jason “Wojo”]: right [Nick McGowan]: what the fuck do you eat likewell you need to get out of that
[Nick McGowan]: chair because i got another person comingin because we’re completely late so i appreciate
[Nick McGowan]: that your heart goes toward i wantto forgive that person
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but i think there’s a lot [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: a problem at hand there you knowwhat i mean
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah oh there is man and youknow and i think it just goes so
[Jason “Wojo”]: frequently under appreciated as to as to [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: what people like you know and thisis i think it’s prevalent and not just
[Jason “Wojo”]: in the scenarios n the environment thatwe’re talking about here but even you know
[Jason “Wojo”]: you [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you have a spouse co worker aboss a brother assist anybody
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: has the influence that that has thepotential to kind of get in there and
[Jason “Wojo”]: sting or make an impact like ithink we just got to like look at
[Jason “Wojo”]: ourselves and i just i just actuallyhad this discussion with wife the other day
[Jason “Wojo”]: like how there was somebody that iprobably was a little too aassumptive in the
[Jason “Wojo”]: way i in the way i likeasked them something and it turned
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: out i was wrong and i’m likei was i probably got a pro it
[Jason “Wojo”]: was okay but i knew it wasit was a little bit more assuming than
[Jason “Wojo”]: it should have been which could havebeen it could
[Nick McGowan]: gotcha [Jason “Wojo”]: have done some damage you know [Nick McGowan]: sure yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: so when you thought back through thati’m sure there was a moment when you’re
[Nick McGowan]: like [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: come on man don’t do that buti’m sure you had some grace with yourself
[Nick McGowan]: but what did that conversation look likego ahead and finish no
[Jason “Wojo”]: well it’s like so there was therewas a there’s a there’s kind of like
[Jason “Wojo”]: a like a little bit of familydrama and i had assumed that this person
[Jason “Wojo”]: was their reaction to me was basedon this family drama when in fact it
[Jason “Wojo”]: had nothing to do with it itwas totally like friends
[Nick McGowan]: he [Jason “Wojo”]: because we were gonna do something togetheri said he is it because of that
[Jason “Wojo”]: and they’re like oh actually know ididn’t even think about it this because we
[Jason “Wojo”]: have these friends coming to the townbecase we’re going to catch up for something
[Jason “Wojo”]: important and like [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: oh i didn’t even realize like hadi had friends coming into town there here
[Jason “Wojo”]: for th whole time my first thoughtwas like oh my gosh that’s not at
[Jason “Wojo”]: all what i was thinking like itwasn’t
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i just jumped to conclusions you knowum
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and i think you we just gotto be careful for that because it’s so
[Jason “Wojo”]: easy to happen because you know [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you talk about patterns a lot rightthis i think sometimes it’s it’s dangerous to
[Jason “Wojo”]: look at the pattern you know insteadof the like the particulars right like it’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: and [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s it’s easy to do and iknow we do this like because it saves
[Jason “Wojo”]: us mental energy and time and wemake broad strokes and generalizations but like it
[Jason “Wojo”]: just seemed to be really kind ofa moment that i realized i was i
[Jason “Wojo”]: need to be you know paying closerattention to this
[Nick McGowan]: it’s interesting think of i think ofpeople finishing other people’s sentences you know i
[Nick McGowan]: it’s just kind of a thing thathas happened i think more in the past
[Nick McGowan]: couple of years then it’s ever beeni’ve actually noticed that even on t v
[Nick McGowan]: shows where they’ll [Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: do it and they’ll just [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: finish out other people’s sentences because onepeople just wanted to be over like we
[Nick McGowan]: want the next thing to happen andwe’re not actively ning were intently listening we’re
[Nick McGowan]: just trying to talk about the nextthing so i find it is an interesting
[Nick McGowan]: thing where people kind of look atthat and they don’t
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: really see what they’re doing as much [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: where if you talk to somebody thatsits back and listen you’re like who that
[Nick McGowan]: person was great like yeah they justlistened to you
[Jason “Wojo”]: you’re right i mean now that yousay it like it’s so and i think
[Jason “Wojo”]: maybe it’s because like i feel likelife for a lot of people has appeared
[Jason “Wojo”]: to become faster more [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: congested more um more hectic and it’slike
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: hey get to the point or heyi know
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: what yo’re gonna say so let mejust finish sentence for you and save me
[Jason “Wojo”]: the time and you go on tothe next thing like you’re saying totally true
[Jason “Wojo”]: man yeah we’re not we’re not listeningjust to kind of listen and and be
[Jason “Wojo”]: surprised just be there with that person [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: were [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: because we already made our conclusion wealready thought
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: of the answer and we already knowwhat you’re goin to say you know totally
[Jason “Wojo”]: true [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: yah [Nick McGowan]: one person that told me at onepoint he was like
[Jason “Wojo”]: ah [Nick McGowan]: i’m just a real fast listener [Jason “Wojo”]: uh [Nick McGowan]: just listen to your stuff real quick [Jason “Wojo”]: h [Nick McGowan]: and i’m done and i was likeoh
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeahyeahi’m [Nick McGowan]: that’s that’s incredibly rude but appreciate thehonesty
[Jason “Wojo”]: a fast listener okay [Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s like all right fair enoughso well let’s let’s top over to the
[Nick McGowan]: life and air stuff because i thinkthis
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: ties in a lot [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: to that [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: where i know you and our buddythat we are talking about have lots and
[Nick McGowan]: lots and lots of conversations and haveto listen to be able to understand what’s
[Nick McGowan]: going on to be able to helpthe people that you’re working with so can
[Nick McGowan]: you give us a bit of contextof what life and air is
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and then to kind of what youguys get into
[Jason “Wojo”]: so man so life in er soi actually started as a student in life
[Jason “Wojo”]: two thousand nine m i did notfound it the founder of steve cook
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: came on as a student and thenstarted speaking started started coaching for them then
[Jason “Wojo”]: speaking then running [Nick McGowan]: a [Jason “Wojo”]: the company alongside steve [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and like so the [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: whole message of life and are isbasically hey like let’s figure out you know
[Jason “Wojo”]: everybody wants to be a millionaire ikeeverybody is just there’s a seductive allure of
[Jason “Wojo”]: the word millionaire that is just soattractive to so many people and what lifeinaire
[Jason “Wojo”]: says is like hey really what youwant is the life you think the money
[Jason “Wojo”]: is going to buy you so whydon’t we do that like why don’t we
[Jason “Wojo”]: buy past the money’s thing not sayingnot saying you you’re not going to make
[Jason “Wojo”]: the money but let’s focus on lifefirst then let’s have the money conversation then
[Jason “Wojo”]: we’ll have the business conversation so likeeverything we do is like hey let’s help
[Jason “Wojo”]: you figure out exactly what you wantyour life to look like in every area
[Jason “Wojo”]: um in in a tangible way nota not a foot necessarily way or like
[Jason “Wojo”]: a hey we’re gonna you now whatman like a pie in the sky approach
[Jason “Wojo”]: but like a real [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: tangible way with a plan and thenwe’ll have a discussion about how to create
[Jason “Wojo”]: a business to serve that life umand i would eight i believe what we
[Jason “Wojo”]: teach is absolutely applicable to everybody buti will also say that most of the
[Jason “Wojo”]: people that that resonate with us aresmall business owners and entrepreneurs you know real
[Jason “Wojo”]: estate investor people that people that wantto have some freedom in their life that
[Jason “Wojo”]: w to a traditional w two atleast can’t fully give you in most cases
[Jason “Wojo”]: not all [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: but but many cases people want tokind of hold that card in their hand
[Jason “Wojo”]: and and kind of pave their ownpath rather than you know
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: somebody else is somebody else is kindof you know somebody else dictating what they’re
[Jason “Wojo”]: what their schedule is going to belike and when they work and things like
[Jason “Wojo”]: that so [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: that’s kind of that’s kind of likewhat the whole thing is about and you
[Jason “Wojo”]: know we have coaching events things likethat that they all kind of play together
[Nick McGowan]: that’s interesting especially to be able togo all right you want to live this
[Nick McGowan]: millionaire lifestyle let’s build the life stylejust like how people talk about you can
[Nick McGowan]: think about these things almost like youcan say words of a ormation but if
[Nick McGowan]: you’re not feeling the feeling behind itthen you’re not actually pulling that to you
[Nick McGowan]: and you have no idea what thefun you want so if you’re able
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: to create that that’s huge so whatdoes that look like to
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: able to work with people that aretrying to
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: figure out that next jump [Jason “Wojo”]: dude first of all it’s amazingly likerewarding like you can probably imagine you help
[Jason “Wojo”]: people with a podcast and so seenthe
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: glimmer of hope in someone’s eye forthe first time to like for them to
[Jason “Wojo”]: fig like what [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: they want is awesome dude and it’s [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: so rewarding the biggest thing i’d sayis like when people come in oftentimes it’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: one of two things one is thatthey really don’t know what they want like
[Jason “Wojo”]: and i know [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: that sounds ridiculous and you’re like ohwell i knew i know what i want
[Jason “Wojo”]: my life to look like but whenyou start asking people like cifics it becomes
[Jason “Wojo”]: very apparent that they haven’t spent awhole lot of
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: time figuring that out and a lotof times we’re seeing
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: people that just basically you know eitherthey fell into their position like at work
[Jason “Wojo”]: or they [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: went down an easy path that theyhad maybe connections with
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: or there’s a family business or theyhave um you know other people that that
[Jason “Wojo”]: do the same thing or or heythey have they have a two so a
[Jason “Wojo”]: white house with a with a picketfence and the two v so i’m on
[Jason “Wojo”]: a do that or like it’s justso much and i don’t want to say
[Jason “Wojo”]: it’s like man i’m not really aconspiracy theorist but like i think there’s just
[Jason “Wojo”]: a lot of nat it’s human natureto kind of
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: look to others for some sort oflike um some sort of model like this
[Jason “Wojo”]: is kind of what success [Nick McGowan]: sure [Jason “Wojo”]: is and so we i think alot of people just do that blindly without
[Jason “Wojo”]: necessarily giving it a whole lot ofthought as to what they wanted to look
[Jason “Wojo”]: like and so when you can showthem that
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: and they start and actually when yougot
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: to be gottllyoumanyou got t be carefulwhen you do this because you don’t want
[Jason “Wojo”]: to influence somebody unintenton [Nick McGowan]: at [Jason “Wojo”]: land and do the same thing likeyou know so when i share
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: what my life looks like i haveto do be very careful because i don’t
[Jason “Wojo”]: i don’t want to idn’twantsomebod to lookat me
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and be like get an idea ifyou want
[Nick McGowan]: that [Jason “Wojo”]: but don’t don’t try to live mylife
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you know because you got to [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: your your life and so [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s just really cool for people tomake that discovery i think sometimes for the
[Jason “Wojo”]: first time ever literally like um soit’s really cool
[Nick McGowan]: m that’s awesome man i don’t wantyou to get into the secret sauce of
[Nick McGowan]: what you do but for the audiencewhat sort of things would you walk people
[Nick McGowan]: through can you kind of give usa high level
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: for those people that are thinking aboutmaking that job
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah so so a couple of thingsi think that are really like let’s ay
[Jason “Wojo”]: you’re just starting of [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: in this process one exercise we havepeople do that that’s really really cool is
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: you know right right two versions ofyour g right
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: one version right now if they couldif this person could not lie about you
[Jason “Wojo”]: and they would say the full completetruth and because listen man we’ve always been
[Jason “Wojo”]: to we’ve we’ve been to those serviceswere like who talking about like this is
[Jason “Wojo”]: not [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: like that person with a jerk [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: like they are in a hole umso what would they say about you right
[Jason “Wojo”]: now [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: and then what do you want themto say about what do you what do
[Jason “Wojo”]: you want them to say about youlike ideally and so when you come are
[Jason “Wojo”]: those two versions you start to recognizethe gaps in your life
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: that [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: you find most important and then fromthere you’re going to pull that and tease
[Jason “Wojo”]: that apart to [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: see like well how does this looklike in s of my day to day
[Jason “Wojo”]: activity is what [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: i really invest in what kind ofperson do i have to become
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: for this to become [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: a fruition you know what kind ofthings in my life have to change as
[Jason “Wojo”]: far as my character my expert isis
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: where i place my my value andthat starts to unravel the thread of like
[Jason “Wojo”]: okay well now that we have thislet’s start to break this down even further
[Jason “Wojo”]: and look at like everything from relationshipfamily and friends your health your
[Nick McGowan]: ah [Jason “Wojo”]: your business life your time your charitablelife if that’s important to you like your
[Jason “Wojo”]: spiritual life that’s important to you likeevery component that can be broken down it’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: essential like a reverse engineering approach toto really getting down through the weeds is
[Jason “Wojo”]: the ultimate step of like hey [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: okay i’ve identified all these things andnow now how do i actually make it
[Jason “Wojo”]: come [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: true like what do i actually haveto do
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: um action wise to make this areality and what do i have to
[Nick McGowan]: yet [Jason “Wojo”]: believe to make it occur too right [Nick McGowan]: yeah yeah that’s that’s huge i knowthat there’s probably more people than they would
[Nick McGowan]: admit that they’ve started something like thatthey’ve thought about some of those things but
[Nick McGowan]: they’re kind of just okay they’re like [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: you know life kind of sucks isbut it’s terrible could be worse
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: like so go ahead [Jason “Wojo”]: dude you you [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: you said a mouthful right there broand i was i was just reacting to
[Jason “Wojo”]: it like that is so complacency andcomfort are the two enemies
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: that we see a lot and thoseare the people like let’s say
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: et’s say you had you had ascale of how happy you’re with life from
[Jason “Wojo”]: one to ten like one to threeis like life sucks i’m dying here
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: i’m getting the life sucked out ofme every day um those people have those
[Jason “Wojo”]: people have some sort motivation to changebecause they’re in pain and so there
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: is a little bit f motivation thereand then you have people that are really
[Jason “Wojo”]: really happy and like maybe not notmuch has to be done and those people
[Jason “Wojo”]: have a different problem which is youknow like it’s easier to kind of lazy
[Jason “Wojo”]: and lose appreciation and gratitude and soit’s easy to kind of like backslide but
[Jason “Wojo”]: the people like right in the middle [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: like [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s a lie like it’s a fouror five or six ye’re like it’s all
[Jason “Wojo”]: right it’s okay though people due it’sit’s hard to reach those sometimes because what
[Jason “Wojo”]: you just said like they are they’recomfortable they’re like it’s
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: okay it’s good enough right and [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: that’s that’s the i feel like thoughpeople man i wish i had the secret
[Jason “Wojo”]: to to motivating them but [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: what i see with those people isa lot of times it’s just it’s basically
[Jason “Wojo”]: more of regret than anything else wherethey’re like you
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: know i could have been i shouldhave been and they have all these dreams
[Jason “Wojo”]: that they just let die in thevine because they’re kind of they’re too comfortable
[Jason “Wojo”]: there’s no there’s no fire you knowthe there’s
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: nothing to kind of ignite him totake that next step
[Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s like how do you lovinglytip the scale a bit without
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: like entering a tragedy in their lifefor
[Jason “Wojo”]: right right [Nick McGowan]: giving them a couple of hundred orsomething like that like how
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: do you change that and it’s honestlyit’s probably all along them like
[Jason “Wojo”]: ah [Nick McGowan]: i think about those moments at timeswhere it’s the pivotal moment we’ve all had
[Nick McGowan]: it at some point even on asmall scale were yo’re like fuck it i’m
[Nick McGowan]: done this thing i’m done with andyou step out of your own energy and
[Nick McGowan]: you go i’m done with this idon’t want it any more because you list
[Nick McGowan]: off the negative things that you’ve thenanchored to it but if you’re just kind
[Nick McGowan]: of sitting there fat and happy it’sso difficult to get those people out of
[Nick McGowan]: it but so what sort of adviceif you and i were standing there and
[Nick McGowan]: we could see somebody that we’re friendswith that are in one of those spaces
[Nick McGowan]: were like well we can’t kill oneof their family members shouldn’t east
[Jason “Wojo”]: right [Nick McGowan]: and i’m not going to give thema couple hundred k i don’t want to
[Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: so what do we do to kindof help them along that path
[Jason “Wojo”]: man and so first of all youi love what you’re saying here because it’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: it’s really you you’re hitting on thethe the crux of the problem here one
[Jason “Wojo”]: thing i think that could be beneficial [Nick McGowan]: oh oh [Jason “Wojo”]: is for people to kind of andyou know and i’ve done this in the
[Jason “Wojo”]: past with some people and it seemsto be effective is like take people through
[Jason “Wojo”]: the exercise or have them do iton their own like what is life gonna
[Jason “Wojo”]: look like [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: in another year another three or fiveyears another ten years if you stay on
[Jason “Wojo”]: this path you know because maybe you’veyou know maybe you’ve gained
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: fifteen pounds over the past [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: two or three years and youre likeokay well i’m a little pudgy but who
[Jason “Wojo”]: cares okay well let’s let’s add thatforward for another ten years so let’s triple
[Jason “Wojo”]: that so you just gained another [Nick McGowan]: so [Jason “Wojo”]: forty five pounds are you okay [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: with that or let’s say like rightnow you’re you’re kind of working more than
[Jason “Wojo”]: you want to not making the moneyan okay
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: well how is that going to workfor you in another five or ten years
[Jason “Wojo”]: do you really still want to struggleare you still really going to be okay
[Jason “Wojo”]: with that or do you think youknow
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: physically or mentally or emotional [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: yo’re gonna burn out like what’s goingto happen to the relationships in your life
[Jason “Wojo”]: because you know that you’re you’re neglectingnow when you already have friction
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: what’s that going to be [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: like in another five or ten yearslike and so
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: sometimes i think the fear of notchanging is in to kind of kick start
[Jason “Wojo”]: somebody and give them a little bitof
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: kick in the pants to move forwardum not always but like
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: i think that’s a that’s a that’sa that could be scary for
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: a lot of people like you knowhen they
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: really think about if the’e if theycontinue in the path they’re on right now
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: what’s the result going to be eachof these different areas of life and like
[Jason “Wojo”]: that that can be sobering sometimes [Nick McGowan]: yeah yeah and that’s that’s easy forus as humans to not go near that
[Nick McGowan]: that’s like oh well there’s [Jason “Wojo”]: ye [Nick McGowan]: a fucking haunted house over there i’mnot going to go in there okay great
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and that things kind of in ourmind somewhere and i appreciate that there are
[Nick McGowan]: people like yourself in like the lifein air coaches that are able to actually
[Nick McGowan]: help people because honestly at the coreof it i’m sure we agree it’s accountability
[Nick McGowan]: like you’ve got to be able toak through things and then have accountability so
[Nick McGowan]: what does that look like from yourperspective and working with people through that stage
[Nick McGowan]: and some of the accountability [Jason “Wojo”]: so i think accountability is a hugepart of it
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: having people two things well [Nick McGowan]: a [Jason “Wojo”]: first of all everybody likes accountability untilthey get it and so you got
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: to you got to really be okaywith it
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: and from the standpoint of receiving thataccountability but also giving it because
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: nobody wants to feel like a jerkbut but like if you’re if you really
[Jason “Wojo”]: care about somebody you’re not going you’renot going to let them get away with
[Jason “Wojo”]: it you know this [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: is where i think the people yousurround yourself with is so important like because
[Jason “Wojo”]: we all have probably had those [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: friends who are like let’s say you’retrying to lose some weight and your butts
[Jason “Wojo”]: you’re like come on man let’s justgo get a let’s get a slice of
[Jason “Wojo”]: pizza and we’ll get a few beerslike you know you don’t hang out with
[Jason “Wojo”]: us any more man let’s go tolet’s go ahead at the bar and just
[Jason “Wojo”]: you know go on a bender likeand i can understand that from the from
[Jason “Wojo”]: the perspective of maybe your friends feellike you’re you’ve withdrawn from them or you’re
[Jason “Wojo”]: going to outgrow them whatever but yourtrue friends in the one that can help
[Jason “Wojo”]: you are the one be like they’rethe nesha’regon to see a beer in your
[Jason “Wojo”]: hand and slap it out of yourhand because you told them
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: you didn’t want to drink [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: and so those are but that’s butyou got to be okay with that from
[Jason “Wojo”]: both perspective [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: and you gotta like really also havethat person’s best interests at heart like you
[Jason “Wojo”]: really got to [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: want them to succeed in more thananything and like you know certainly not more
[Jason “Wojo”]: than they want to succeed but likeyou got to match
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: them where they are um [Nick McGowan]: sure [Jason “Wojo”]: and that’s so important man becase yodon’t want you don’t an accountability from somebody
[Jason “Wojo”]: who’s who’s [Nick McGowan]: a [Jason “Wojo”]: rooting against you who just wants tobe a jerk or like
[Nick McGowan]: god [Jason “Wojo”]: whatever and so so that’s that’s reallyimportant um to do that and and the
[Jason “Wojo”]: other thing i think that’s really importantis like
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: is related to accountability is to tofind other people that are like
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: that are doing the things that yousay you want to do um and who
[Jason “Wojo”]: are happy to see you make progressas well which is kind of a
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: little bit like what we just mentionedth accountability um and it just it gets
[Jason “Wojo”]: back i think to the power ofcommunity and being around the right folks you
[Jason “Wojo”]: know and is so funny because likeyou know i think a lot of us
[Jason “Wojo”]: probably remember our our parents telling uswhen we’re kids like don’t hang out with
[Jason “Wojo”]: johnnie like you know like he’s gointo get you in trouble or
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and they were kind of right likeactually like
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: as much as i hate to admitit like you know
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: your parents can see things that youcan’t when you’re when you’re young and
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: we lose that governing like over theshoulder perspective like when we’re adults and maybe
[Jason “Wojo”]: we could be and from it alittle bit like you know
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: who are you hanging out with youknow and are
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: they keeping you accountable are they helpingyou reach the things
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you want to do [Nick McGowan]: well that starts with us us asindividuals
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: like sometimes you got a parent yourselfi am i had this conversation
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: recently so we’re recording this in octoberyour episode is probably gon to be out
[Nick McGowan]: february march is something like that butthis month i started or stopped drinking and
[Nick McGowan]: i haven’t had a month of notdrinking since probably high school
[Jason “Wojo”]: man [Nick McGowan]: maybe [Jason “Wojo”]: all right [Nick McGowan]: and like middle [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: school like as terrible as that mightsound
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but being able to actually do thatbut it took me parenting myself over the
[Nick McGowan]: course of a couple of months andseeing the patterns of ship and the conversations
[Nick McGowan]: that i have with it nough peopleabout this stuff where i was like wait
[Nick McGowan]: a minute i’m seeing myself being ableto do this and i’m kind of a
[Nick McGowan]: gee and i know that [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: i am probably a geek outlier withthis
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: but i get fuckingnertilly excited where i’mlike yeah
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: this is of those moments [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: this is one of those things umand it’s only because i’ve been in those
[Nick McGowan]: spots where i’ve pushed that ship offwhere i’ve been like a fucking i’ll let
[Nick McGowan]: future me deal with that and in [Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: future six months [Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: two years later goes [Jason “Wojo”]: why didn’t [Nick McGowan]: past [Jason “Wojo”]: you address [Nick McGowan]: me why can’t [Jason “Wojo”]: it back [Nick McGowan]: you just [Jason “Wojo”]: then [Nick McGowan]: fix your fucking problems [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: exactly come on [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: now [Jason “Wojo”]: man [Nick McGowan]: we have been so much further aheador you know whatever so i’ve had enough
[Nick McGowan]: of that bull ship where the parentin me is like remember these fucking times
[Nick McGowan]: let’s knock that off but that’s notone of those things where you can’t just
[Nick McGowan]: pull that out of you that takesyears and years to be able to do
[Nick McGowan]: that but i think good conversational istthe ones that are able to do that
[Nick McGowan]: with people and get them to thatpoint where they can feel that trust no
[Nick McGowan]: i’m sure you’re probably in that spottoo so thinking about the audience that
[Jason “Wojo”]: ah [Nick McGowan]: is either going through that or nowsomebody like when the ship comes up there’s
[Nick McGowan]: always like you know timmy or johnnyor whoever that pops in their head they’re
[Nick McGowan]: like man i got to talk tothis guy how would you suggest that they
[Nick McGowan]: lovingly have a conversation with somebody that’skind of in that fear space or that
[Nick McGowan]: really casual spot and wouldn’t accept theaccountability because they don’t have enough fear or
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: negativity tied to it yet [Jason “Wojo”]: dude that’s that’s a great question andi think i think what i’ve
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: seen is like you know i thinkthe first thing that’s going to be your
[Jason “Wojo”]: pre requisite for any kind of meetdiscussion it has to be a report like
[Jason “Wojo”]: you [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: have to have a relationship with thisperson where they have no doubt that you
[Jason “Wojo”]: care about them more than their ownself interest when it comes to this issue
[Jason “Wojo”]: and you have and if you’re gonnai think there’s two ways to play this
[Jason “Wojo”]: like so if you have if youhave report you know i think that that
[Jason “Wojo”]: being the first step either you youhave a choice do you bring it up
[Jason “Wojo”]: directly and in a gentle way ordo you wait for them to express like
[Jason “Wojo”]: something something to you and [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: then you use as an open doorto to ah to broach that conversation and
[Jason “Wojo”]: i it’s really i think it’s reallydependent on the context in the person you
[Jason “Wojo”]: know one [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: one thing that i’ve found valuable asan actual technique to do this is this
[Jason “Wojo”]: you got to be you always gotto be honest with this but like i’ve
[Jason “Wojo”]: had discussions with friends about my otherfriends or someone close to me who’s dealt
[Jason “Wojo”]: with this and i just drop itas a story in conversation just
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: because then then they can’t help butand you know you know make it like
[Jason “Wojo”]: obvious that you’re like you know [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: you’re trying to plant the seed withthem but like
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: when they hear it from somebody elseit causes them to just kind of you
[Jason “Wojo”]: stutter and their step for a secondjust and all of a sudden just be
[Jason “Wojo”]: like i wonder you know and yougot to do it you don’t want them
[Jason “Wojo”]: to think like you you’re trying tolike you know and around about talk to
[Jason “Wojo”]: them but like if you can [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i think it’s easier for people tohear a story about somebody else and then
[Jason “Wojo”]: they start maybe look at themselves alittle bit and that might be the opening
[Jason “Wojo”]: you need but you guys do thatvery tight fully because you don’t want you
[Jason “Wojo”]: never want to be [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: manipulated with someone [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: um but that’s tough because some peopledude listen like my mom has had stage
[Jason “Wojo”]: for lung cancer she’s in her missionnow dude she still smokes like you know
[Jason “Wojo”]: wat i mean like [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: how do you [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: how do you [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and believe me i’ve had all theconversations right and like it hasn’t worked and
[Jason “Wojo”]: so like at the end [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: of the day it’s the person likethey have to want to change like like
[Jason “Wojo”]: you know when [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you mentioned your moment a minute agolike having enough like so so you got
[Jason “Wojo”]: to have some you got to havesome discernment with this like don’t if if
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you can tell they don’t care atall save your breath just just
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: love on them [Nick McGowan]: move along [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah just just love on them bethere for them and then and when when
[Jason “Wojo”]: you know the feces hits the rotaryblade device mountain on the ceiling
[Nick McGowan]: ah [Jason “Wojo”]: you will be there to help themand support them
[Nick McGowan]: yeah it’s a long way to beable to say that but i appreciate that
[Jason “Wojo”]: it is it is [Nick McGowan]: yeah well yeah it definitely is onit’s on us as people and i keep
[Nick McGowan]: thinking of that visual of you andi standing there seeing somebody standing at a
[Nick McGowan]: five or six not being at atwo or not being at an eight or
[Nick McGowan]: nine and just living in that generalyou know life sucks at times but life
[Nick McGowan]: sucks at times because i think thereare pieces of it like almost
[Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: layers to it where you need tohave some grace with yourself right and just
[Nick McGowan]: go look today was kind of suckingtough but i’m all right i’m going to
[Nick McGowan]: sit down i’m going to watch tv you do whatever our gonna do to
[Nick McGowan]: edge out for a couple minutes havesome grace but not just totally give it
[Nick McGowan]: up [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and something that i found that hasbeen super helpful for me has been just
[Nick McGowan]: incremental progress like there’s certain days likei learned from my dad years ago he
[Nick McGowan]: was like there’s some days where ifeel like it’s just not my day to
[Nick McGowan]: do things so i’ll go right cooland just let it kind of go on
[Nick McGowan]: the day kind of ride and therebeen certain times or i’m like you can
[Nick McGowan]: mentally change that it’s an attitude thingto be able to figure that out
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: so how do i incorporate [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: that in my life without getting crazywhere sometimes you can start to think through
[Nick McGowan]: oh my god all this ship happenedbefore all this it has to happen
[Jason “Wojo”]: ah [Nick McGowan]: which lands you in the center soi found the incremental work
[Jason “Wojo”]: m [Nick McGowan]: to help me but in all theconversations you have with people that are either
[Nick McGowan]: super successful in doing great things butwant more were therein a really bad spot
[Nick McGowan]: and [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: they want to be able to fixthat how do you help them have the
[Nick McGowan]: incremental growth and do the things onthe daily to help
[Jason “Wojo”]: man i want to i want toi want to step back for one second
[Jason “Wojo”]: and focus on what you said whichi absolutely love man like what i heard
[Jason “Wojo”]: is like having grace with yourself whenthings aren’t going well but
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: also the flip side of that coinis like when you feel like you’re on
[Jason “Wojo”]: you have the responsibility the ethical likeyou know you have this to hustle to
[Jason “Wojo”]: make it happen to advantage and don’tsquander those days
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: too because you have [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: everybody hasn’t both like you’ll have somedays where like you know you like you
[Jason “Wojo”]: said you’re you’re our it’s just youknow it’s not on your day and you
[Jason “Wojo”]: give yourself permission and you make thebest of it maybe you do something that
[Jason “Wojo”]: you really enjoy to kind of maybeperhaps get you back in the zone and
[Jason “Wojo”]: if not okay [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: well you know i’m just gonna i’mnot gonna beat myself up about it tomorrow’s
[Jason “Wojo”]: new day or even like you knowi’m going to take a nap and when
[Jason “Wojo”]: i wake up we’ll see how ifeel like you know like try to
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: reset that clock and [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: then when when things are going welland you feel good i think you really
[Jason “Wojo”]: that’s that’s your moment to shine andso don’t let that slide i think the
[Jason “Wojo”]: shine days for most people over along period of time are most people again
[Jason “Wojo”]: are outweighed the darker days in ashort
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: period of time that could absolutely notbe true like so you have you know
[Jason “Wojo”]: dude i went i went through adivorce back two thousand levin it was the
[Jason “Wojo”]: darkest time of my life i literallydidn’t want a bed from like literally didn’t
[Jason “Wojo”]: want to go to bed for amonth um
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: i mean i wasn’t i wasn’t likesuicidal but i also wouldn’t have minded a
[Jason “Wojo”]: medio landed in my house and likejust crushed me you
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: know and i would have be okaywith that
[Nick McGowan]: sure [Jason “Wojo”]: um and so in that short periodof time it was all dark but you
[Jason “Wojo”]: know you expand that perspective to toa year to two years you
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: know whatever you start to see abetter pattern and i think one of the
[Jason “Wojo”]: things to incremental growth is is catchingand having a perspective on the little things
[Jason “Wojo”]: and having appreciative appreciative attitude for itso like for instance like i was this
[Jason “Wojo”]: is not too long ago i hadmy i was doing my morning quiet time
[Jason “Wojo”]: which i’m a big believer and thatmakes a big difference for me in my
[Jason “Wojo”]: life um and this is the silliestthing man but i remember sitting on my
[Jason “Wojo”]: couch and being like oh my goshi have a i have a couch and
[Jason “Wojo”]: i’ve a [Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: carpet under my feet and i’ve heardthe air conditioning go on and i’m like
[Jason “Wojo”]: i have air conditioning that i heardthe fridge turned in like i have refrigerator
[Jason “Wojo”]: like i can have food like thatis cold and on like and it started
[Jason “Wojo”]: just this incredible also kind of littlebit foreign because this isn’t normally how i
[Jason “Wojo”]: view things but like this incredible momentof like this flowering appreciation that made me
[Jason “Wojo”]: realize [Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: and and it flipped my perspective enoughto turn what could have been like a
[Jason “Wojo”]: like an okay or a dark dayinto a great day and so like i
[Jason “Wojo”]: think that is something i think andi know it sounds kind of corny like
[Jason “Wojo”]: you know our attitude of gratitude abbablalikeevery ever rhyme sounds like you know prophetic
[Nick McGowan]: m my [Jason “Wojo”]: or whatever but it really did strikeme of how how valuable that was for
[Jason “Wojo”]: me and if you can find thoseopportunities catch those little things
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: i think it does’tmakeadifference [Nick McGowan]: yeah i totally agree with that andthere are some of the sayings that are
[Nick McGowan]: corny because some people think of theship as corny but if you really think
[Nick McGowan]: of those little magical [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: moments where you are aware of everything around you it’s almost like being on
[Nick McGowan]: a different mental level like you’ve enteredthe quantum realm at that point and you
[Nick McGowan]: can understand that everything i have isimportant in some certain way and to be
[Nick McGowan]: grateful for that i had a conversationwith actually my my brother and my dad
[Nick McGowan]: the other day where i was likeyou guys ever just like randomly yell throughout
[Nick McGowan]: the house like fuck yeah just becauseyou love life they’re like yeah all the
[Nick McGowan]: time and maybe that’s where i getit from but there are weird things like
[Nick McGowan]: that or i’m sure my neighbors arelike what the fuck is wrong with this
[Nick McGowan]: guy but he moments and when thosemoments happen i think it’s on us to
[Nick McGowan]: be able to it’s our responsibility asyou mentioned earlier to do something with it
[Nick McGowan]: to capitalize on that there’s this energythat’s flowing
[Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: through you you can’t just be likehold cool man i hate this
[Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: and [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: instantly [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: jump into something shady [Jason “Wojo”]: totally to man totally true i lovethat you got
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: to express it do something with itshow it like because i think if you
[Jason “Wojo”]: don’t do that it just it justkind
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: of sequesters itself and it goes backinto a hiding hole
[Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: you know you got you got todo something
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: with it oh [Nick McGowan]: and it’s like a muscle at thatpoint if you keep telling it to go
[Nick McGowan]: away it’s going to go away andnot come back and maybe that’s where the
[Nick McGowan]: five or six years have been they [Jason “Wojo”]: man [Nick McGowan]: get kind of stuck in that [Jason “Wojo”]: yeah [Nick McGowan]: you know i’m sure you get intothis where you you’ve known somebody for a
[Nick McGowan]: while a hen you have a conversationwith them years later and they’re like man
[Nick McGowan]: i’ve never told you this before you’relike we’ve been friends for life a decade
[Nick McGowan]: how have you not told me thisthing before so i think of that stuff
[Nick McGowan]: that people just naturally kind of holdon to until they’re ready but it all
[Nick McGowan]: gets back to them to be readyto at um an i appreciate that you’ve
[Nick McGowan]: been on the show i appreciate thetime we could probably just keep talking and
[Nick McGowan]: talking and talking about this stuff andi know this isn’t going to be our
[Nick McGowan]: last conversation at some point we shouldprobably do a convert ation with the four
[Nick McGowan]: of us if not even more lifeand air people
[Jason “Wojo”]: be awesome [Nick McGowan]: um but what sort of [Jason “Wojo”]: oh [Nick McGowan]: advice would you give the audience thatare walking toward their path of self mastery
[Jason “Wojo”]: i would say be in the momentand give it time give it look for
[Jason “Wojo”]: incremental changes to make the biggest differencefor them because that is the
[Nick McGowan]: oh [Jason “Wojo”]: that’s the key like you know justrating it it up slowly over time like
[Jason “Wojo”]: small small small sequential steps that byby external standards may be be non noticeable
[Jason “Wojo”]: like but [Nick McGowan]: hm [Jason “Wojo”]: find those and then you will seethe progress and once you
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: see the progress now you can restthat you’re going you’re on the right path
[Jason “Wojo”]: and you can forget you can letgo of any kind of expectation on how
[Jason “Wojo”]: fast it should come or what itshould look
[Nick McGowan]: m [Jason “Wojo”]: like and it will get there justhave confidence that it works and believe in
[Jason “Wojo”]: process man [Nick McGowan]: it’s awesome again Wojo [Jason “Wojo”]: okay [Nick McGowan]: thank you so much for being onwhere can people find you and where can
[Nick McGowan]: they connect with you [Jason “Wojo”]: man head on over i’d say eitherto a life in ers private facebook group
[Jason “Wojo”]: and just call it private so wedon’t have any spanners in there but anybody
[Jason “Wojo”]: could be in there [Nick McGowan]: ye [Jason “Wojo”]: it’s a great place to discuss anyend verything that’s related to
[Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: you know achieving and accomplish ing thelife you want or just go to life
[Jason “Wojo”]: in your ot com to see whatyou know when we’re coming to your area
[Jason “Wojo”]: for events [Nick McGowan]: yeah [Jason “Wojo”]: and a kind of content we haveon the website
[Nick McGowan]: awesome again o thank you so muchfor being on it was a pleasure man
[Jason “Wojo”]: thanks man
